Today's topic: "What would you answer if someone asked you what Bitcoin is?"
Assumed audience: Around 6th grade elementary school students
- Roughly speaking, "It's one type of money."
- If they say, "We have Japanese yen, so I don't think we need Bitcoin," explain that the government issues a lot of money, which decreases its value, and that Bitcoin does not increase in quantity.
- Explain that the reason Bitcoin cannot be increased is because "it is managed by many people around the world, and it is a system that prevents anyone from doing anything bad."
Things to be careful of when explaining to someone
- Avoid technical terms that the audience is likely to not know
Example: If someone has no knowledge of Bitcoin, explain without using words like blockchain or decentralized.
