When I think about commitment, no stronger commitment comes to mind than that of Data Scientist, self professed nerd and certified killer, Eddie Detvongsa. Eddie just recently received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu after 12 years of committed training. I’m super grateful I got to sit down with Eddie and Special Forces Army Veteran, Entrepreneur and Head Instructor at Legion Jiu Jitsu, Sean Patton to talk through the journey to black belt and its profound effects it has on the rest of your life. We talk getting creative, what makes a good student and designing an intentional life. Stay tuned!
In this episode I sit down with architect, illustrator and heart attack survivor, Mike Smith, AKA Doodlebags. Mike was running roughly 3 miles a day and was blindsided by a heart attack named the "Widow Maker." Not only has Mike jumped back into the creative saddle, he's audaciously returned (almost a year-to the date from his heart attack) to run his furthest distance ever. The timing of this release was not intentional, but I think it was meant to be. Please take a listen. You can find Mike @doodlebags on IG and Twitter and doodlebags illustration on FB.
