“Back Side of the Cross: Adoption”
Text: Romans 8:1-17
In the last week of our short series on the Back Side of the Cross, we look at Romans 8. As Paul describes, we receive the full benefits of being a part of God’s family when we receive a spirit of adoption, including a personal salvation that says we are personally known and loved by God.
“Back Side of the Cross: Forgiveness”
Text: Luke 17:1-10
This week’s passage from Luke teaches us that forgiveness comes after the hard work of repentance. God is with us to free us from the power of shame, guilt, and the ways of this world. To live as the people of God, we must learn to love, forgive, and repent with one another.
“Back Side of the Cross: Atonement”
Text: Acts 2:17-24
As we begin a new series, Pastor Tim asks us to try looking at what Jesus did on the cross from a new perspective. We are used to looking at the cross and thinking what it means for “I, the sinner.” What does it mean to look at it and look and see the victim? Jesus freely choosing the cross is done as an act of solidarity and love with those who experience pain, shame, and death. We are also called to enter in and assist in the liberation of those around us.
“Openness and Obedience when God Speaks”
Text: Genesis 12:1-4
How does Abram model obedience when he is called by God? Pastor Eric Larsen joins us again this week and suggests that obedience requires continual action – a willing participation in what He wants us to do, no matter the cost. Through Abram’s obedience, his faith grew and even when he fell short, God kept His promises.
“Fully Embracing a Foolish Message”
Text: 1 Corinthians 1:18-25
We welcome Pastor Eric Larsen back to the pulpit as this week’s guest preacher. What are the messages that come from the cross of Jesus? For Rome, it was capital punishment; for the Jews, rejection. For those who are saved, it is the transformative power of God on display.
“Living as God’s People: Work of God’s People – February 15, 2026”
Text: 1 Corinthians 3:1-23
In 1 Corinthians, Paul addresses the early Church which is still figuring out how to be faithful. Paul discourages quarreling and jealousy, explaining that all of us must work together for God, caring for one another and those that the world casts aside.
“Living as God’s People: Proclamation of God’s People”
Text: 1 Corinthians 2:1-16
Paul continues the message of God’s wisdom that was introduced in last week’s passage. When we proclaim the Good News, we share this wisdom based on the cross – an act of self-sacrifice and love that meets us where we are – to a world that does not understand.
“Living as God’s People: Wisdom of God’s People”
Text: 1 Corinthians 1:18-31
In today’s passage from 1 Corinthians, Paul speaks about wisdom and how God uses the weak things of the world to shame the strong. Jesus’ crucifixion embodies God’s wisdom – we must embrace the cross as the fullest expression of God’s love for us.
“Living as God’s People: Unity of God’s People”
Text: 1 Corinthians 1:10-17
We continue our look at 1 Corinthians with Paul encouraging the church to be united. This call to unity is one based in the gospel of Christ and God’s grace over all that might divide them.
“Living as God’s People: Preservation of God’s People”
Text 1 Corinthians 1:1-9
Today we begin a study of the book of 1 Corinthians. Paul’s greeting to the church in Corinth testifies to how God is involved in our lives to help direct and guide us to be the people He wants us to be. We are called to exhibit and live out the grace of Jesus Christ as a part of the greater call of the church – an expression of his Kingdom.
