Week Four: Captain America Let’s be honest, weakness is a bad word in most circles. We don’t like to admit that we are weak. Whether we’re at work, among friends, or even at church, we tend to mask the things that might make us look bad. And yet, the Apostle Paul seems to suggest that we should boast about our weaknesses. In fact, he writes to the Corinthian Church, “When I am weak, then I am strong.” In the movie, Captain America, there is a scene where Steve Rogers is told, “Only a weak man can know the true value of strength.” Those words seem to echo the Apostle Paul’s. This week, we’re talking about weakness. We’re going to look at the very things that many people think disqualify them from God’s service in hopes of discovering the secret to seeing God be fully glorified through our lives.

Even those on Titanic the wealthy were seen as having more value than the poor. In fact, the majority of those who survived the tragedy at sea were first class passengers. The sad truth is that even today, people are judged based on certain outward criteria. Race, popularity, looks, age, and many other factors determine what we think of people. Some argue it’s simply “human nature.” But shouldn’t the Church be different? The Apostle James believes it should be. He challenged the church to rise above showing favourtism based on wealth or any other factor. This week, we look at James’ words and ask the honest question, “Do I judge based on outward criteria?”

Conviction tells the true story of Betty Anne Waters who put herself through law school in order to represent her brother, Kenny Waters, who was wrongfully convicted of murder. It is an inspiring tale of tenacity in the face of incredibly challenging circumstances. No matter what others said, Betty Anne knew her brother was innocent, and she refused to give up until he was set free. God wants us to live with a confidence that he will do what he promised in Scripture. Do you have tenacious faith? Is it unshakable? Do you approach God with a determination to hold fast to whatever he has promised? This week, we'll look at a number of Bible stories that illustrate the idea that God wants us to hold strong to the conviction that he is great, he is good.

Click, starring Adam Sandler, tells the story of a man who is given a "Universe Remote Control". One that controls his universe. With it, he can fast forward over the parts of his life he doesn't enjoy, such as fights with his wife or misbehaving children. But what happens when life suddenly passes him by? What if you could have a remote control for your life? Would you hit the rewind button in order to go back and redo something in your life, or would you hit fast forward to skip to another time in the future? Marty opens up our new At The Movies series by focusing on lessons we can learn from the movie Click.

Week Five: The Afterlife "What happens after we die? Do believers go to Heaven and unbelievers go to Hell? Can those who have died see and hear us on Earth?" There were a lot of questions about the afterlife. In our final message in the Ask The Pastor series, Rob offers some insight into these questions and focuses on what really matters when it comes to wondering about life after death.

Week Four: Creation and Evolution "How do you explain creation and evolution from a biblical and scientific prespective?" A lot of people believe there is a huge separation from scientific theory and Christian belief when it comes to the age and origin of the universe, and the beginning of life on Planet Earth. Rob focuses on some of the creation theories and looks at how they line up with what the Bible teaches and what science theorizes.

Week Three: How Do I Relate To God As Father? "The Bible says that God is my Father. How am I supposed to relate to him in that way?" This week, our worship and youth pastor, Cam responds to the question of connecting to God as our Heavenly Father.

Week Two: How Do I Pray? "People tell me to 'Pray about it' or 'Talk to God.' How do you do that? How am I supposed to pray?" Prayer is absolutely vital to the spiritual journey. It is through prayer that we connect with God. Pastor Marty focuses in on this subject and offers a number of different ways we can learn how to pray.

Week One: Are We Right? "There are so many different doctrines, beliefs, interpretations and teachings out there. How do we know what we believe is right and others are wrong?" In the first week of our Ask The Pastor series, we lay a foundation by focusing on one of the most important questions we could ask. How do we respond to those who believe differently than us? Whether it's someone who holds to a completely different religious faith or simply a teaching believed by a different denominational group, how can we be sure we are right and they are wrong? Or should we simply accept that truth might be different for different people?

Week Three: Generosity There are a lot of false teachings when it comes to money. The prosperity gospel and the poverty gospel are two of them. And yet, even distorted teachings can have truth buried within them. As we wrap up our Multiply series, we'll look at the principle of sowing and reaping. What does it mean when God promises to multiply what we give? Scripture seems to be clear that we can reap up to a 100 times blessing on our giving. Is that a guarantee? Does it mean that if I give, I'll be blessed with a mansion, luxury cars, and everything I might want? Or, should I be content with very little? So many questions. God wants us to be generous people. In doing so, we just might find the answers.
