One of the most closely watched races in California is the newly drawn 3rd Congressional District. Physically sprawling from Lassen National Forest through Sierra Nevada foothill communities like Grass Valley, Placerville, and Lake Tahoe, including suburbs like Rocklin and Roseville, and spanning as far south in the Eastern Sierra to Mt. Whitney. The candidates are Republican State Assemblymember Kevin Kiley and Democrat Kermit Jones, a Navy veteran and physician. The district is politically competitive with roughly 38% registered Republicans, 33% registered Democrats, and just under 20% “No Party Preference.” CapRadio’s Nicole Nixon and KCRA3’s Edie Lambert teamed up for the Midterm and co-moderated a debate for the primary and moderated their second debate just days before the midterm election. Edie Lambert and Nicole Nixon joined us on Insight afterward to share their debate analysis.    

Halloween is upon us, and the holiday wouldn’t be complete without a telling of a spine-tingling tale. All this month, the Sacramento Public Library has been sharing tales of the weird, obscure, and odd through its “Dial-A-Tale" program. The library gathered stories of harvest and horror from around the world for listeners as part of a series of programs the library launched to enhance digital storytelling. Peter Coyl, Director and CEO of the Sacramento Public Library, joined Insight to share one of these spooky tales and tell us more about the other digital services the public can expect next.
