A show on the Ovation Channel this mystery was a new one for me. set in the 1930's with a pair of lady private detectives. 

My thoughts on this overlooked sub-set of cozy mysteries. With special mention of my favorite book.

The Circular Staircase by Mary Roberts Rinehart.    

The Circular Staircase is considered the first in the Had-I-but-known school of thought in detective fiction. And what's that mean? Well you'll have to wait for future episodes to find out. The book was written by Mary Roberts Rinehart and published in 1908. Mary Roberts was considered America's Agatha Christie. 

Of the hundreds of cozies on shelves there's only a handful with men as the protagonist. Why is this?

 She was the main character of 9 Warner Brothers films from the 1930's and always got the upper hand on her detective boyfriend. She was a fast talking, quick witted, and strong willed role model for many a young woman in Pre-World War II.
