This week on the podcast we delve into relationships, and the question this week is “ In less than a week, five different women have basically decided they're done with me, and honestly I'm starting to wonder if I'm the problem. I wasn't being rude, pushy, or sexual, but enough people pulling away, I'm starting to wonder if I'm just irritating. So I want you to be completely honest with me. Is it me?”

  • 55. The Courage to Reinvent Yourself with Monica Marquez

What happens when the version of success you’ve been working toward doesn’t actually make you feel fulfilled?

In this episode of Caraline’s Adventure, Caraline sits down with Monica Marquez, a workplace AI strategist, leadership and learning expert, serial entrepreneur, and founder of FlipWork. Monica shares the unexpected twists and pivotal moments that shaped her career—from growing up as a military child and learning to adapt to constant change, to questioning the path she thought she was supposed to follow, building a career at organizations like Goldman Sachs and Google, and eventually leaving the corporate world to build her own company.

Caraline and Monica talk about the difference between achievement and fulfillment, the mentors who can change the trajectory of our lives, and why we shouldn’t limit ourselves to people who look or think like us. Monica also shares stories about being thrown into unfamiliar situations, learning new skills on the fly, and discovering that you don't have to check every box before taking a chance.

The conversation then turns to one of the biggest changes facing the workplace today: artificial intelligence. Monica explains why she sees AI as a powerful tool for reinvention—but also why we need to question, verify, and add our own judgment to what AI produces. From treating AI like a “digital intern” to developing what she calls “authentic intelligence,” Monica offers a thoughtful perspective on how humans and AI can work together.

Most importantly, Monica leaves listeners with a powerful question: If you could reinvent yourself or have a do-over, what would you change—and why not start doing it now?

Join Caraline and Monica for a conversation about resilience, courage, career pivots, mentorship, AI, and giving yourself permission to create a life that feels meaningful—not just successful.

    Meet Monica Marquez

Monica Marquez is a workplace AI strategist, leadership, learning, and inclusion expert, and serial entrepreneur. • 54. She Wasn't Expected to Survive: Hannah Bauer's Journey of Resilience

     InThis Episode

Caraline welcomes Hannah D. Bauer, Founder and CEO of HEARTnomics™, for a conversation about resilience, hope, purpose, leadership, and the small actions that can create extraordinary change.

Hannah shares the deeply personal story of growing up with a serious heart condition and how her experiences with illness, medical innovation, family, community, and adversity shaped the leader she became.

    Hannah’s Story of Resilience

Hannah was diagnosed with a terminal heart disease at just four years old. Her childhood involved hospitalizations, isolation, uncertainty, and significant medical challenges.

At age 10, she experienced two heart attacks and was declared dead before being revived. Her family eventually relocated in search of medical options that were not yet available in the United States.

Her journey eventually led to pioneering cardiac treatment and became a major influence on the creation of HEARTnomics™.

    Hope vs. Positive Thinking

Hannah explains the difference between simply thinking that things will get better and actively choosing hope.

Hope, she says, can move us from passivity into action. Even when we don't understand what is happening or know exactly how things will work out, hope can help us look for a way forward.

    The BEAT Framework

    Hannah introduces her BEAT framework:

    B — Believe
    E — Engage
    A — Act
    T — Transform

She describes how this process developed from her own experiences as a child in the hospital and eventually became a framework for navigating life, leadership, and personal growth.

    The Power of Small Actions

One of the biggest takeaways from the conversation is that meaningful progress doesn't always begin with a huge decision.

Sometimes it begins with one tiny action.

Hannah and Caraline discuss how small, consistent actions can create momentum and eventually lead to enormous changes. As Hannah puts it, a million small steps can equal a huge journey.

    Celebrating Small Wins

Hannah encourages listeners to recognize and celebrate the progress they've already made.

Instead of focusing only on the next goal, take time to acknowledge the steps that brought you to where you are today.

The things that feel ordinary now may once have seemed impossible.

  • 53. Following the Tickles of Your Soul

What if you don't need to know where you're going?

In this episode of Caraline’s Adventure, Caraline talks with Kristy Halvorsen about what happens when you stop trying to force your life into the shape you thought it was supposed to take—and start trusting where you're being pulled.

Kristy spent years building what she thought would be her permanent life. She had a career as a firefighter, a home, a partner, and a plan for the future. But after a serious health issue and an injury made her question how she wanted to spend her life, she began planning a different kind of future.

    Then everything changed.

When her relationship ended just as she was preparing to travel, Kristy thought the dream she'd built with her partner was over. Instead, with encouragement from her mother, she decided to pursue it alone. Within two months, she had left her job, sold her home and belongings, and hit the road in her Airstream.

Nearly nine years later, Kristy is still wandering.

She has traveled throughout the United States and Canada, lived primarily off-grid, and learned to follow what she calls the “tickles of her soul”—the small internal nudges that tell us where to take our next step without giving us the entire roadmap.

    About Kristy

Kristy Halvorsen is a former firefighter, an adventurer, an nomad, a mentor, a coach, and bestselling author. She is the author of Perfect Unfolding: Seven Years of Life-Changing Solo Adventure, One Year That Broke Me Open, a memoir about solo travel, transformation, curiosity, and learning to trust the unknown.

  • 51. The Courage to Choose Yourself with Danielle Frank

What happens when the life you planned no longer fits?

In this episode of Caraline’s Adventure, Caraline sits down with author and longtime luxury wine and spirits executive Danielle Frank to talk about resilience, reinvention, and finding the courage to step onto a new path.

Danielle’s life has been shaped by unexpected pivots—from working in Hollywood publicity at Miramax to building a career in the wine and spirits industry, and from ending an engagement when she realized the future she envisioned wasn’t the right one for her, to discovering a new sense of freedom and purpose on her own.

Danielle also shares the story behind her book, A Wine Lover’s Guide to Parenting, a humorous, lighthearted take on parenting, human decency, manners, empathy, and raising good human beings. Although Danielle isn't a parent herself, she wanted to maintain a “seat at the table” in the conversation about how children are raised—and found a way to turn her experiences into something meaningful.

Together, Caraline and Danielle explore what it means to trust your instincts, recognize when a job or relationship is no longer serving you, embrace an unexpected future, and learn from every chapter—even the ones you never planned to write.

Danielle's story is a reminder that you are always one decision away from a completely different path, and sometimes the most meaningful chapter begins when the original plan ends.

  • 50. From Cartel Life to Recovery: Austin Rampt's Incredible Journey

Austin Rampt has lived a life that most people couldn't imagine.

After struggling with addiction from a young age, Austin's journey took him from successful entrepreneur and family man to losing everything. His addiction eventually led him to flee to Mexico, where he became entangled with the Sinaloa cartel while chasing the next high. By the time he returned home, his business, relationships, and identity had fallen apart.

But that wasn't the end of his story.

In this deeply honest conversation, Austin shares how recovery became about far more than simply getting sober. We explore shame, childhood trauma, the masks we wear to gain acceptance, rebuilding relationships, and how vulnerability became the key to finding genuine connection. Austin also opens up about fatherhood, self-worth, and why healing starts when we stop trying to become someone else.

Whether you've been impacted by addiction personally or love someone who has, this episode is a powerful reminder that no matter how far you've fallen, hope is always possible.

  • 49. Before It's Too Late: Finding What Really Matters with Jermaine Ee

When Jermaine Ee built an AI-powered journaling tool for his mother, he thought he was simply helping her prepare for retirement. Instead, it opened the door to conversations they had never taken the time to have about her childhood in Malaysia, the dreams she still carried, and what truly mattered to her.

One of those conversations led their family back to Oklahoma, where his mother's American journey began more than forty years earlier. Standing inside the same Burger King where she had once stretched a single chicken sandwich into two meals because it was all she could afford, she reflected on just how far life had brought her.

Just months later, she passed away unexpectedly.

Rather than allowing grief to end the story, Jermaine transformed it into a mission. Today, through HeirLight, he is helping families move beyond the legal paperwork of estate planning and toward something far more meaningful: the conversations that preserve memories, values, and love long before they are needed.

  • 47. The Dream That Took 13 Years

What happens when the dream you've held onto for years is the very thing holding you back?

In this heartfelt episode of Caraline's Adventure, Caraline sits down with Jon Hill, a two-time Emmy Award-winning sports producer, filmmaker, and director of the award-winning independent film Above the Clouds. What unfolds is an honest conversation about grief, perseverance, identity, and discovering that sometimes the path to your greatest dream begins with letting it go.

After losing his father, Jon experienced a chance encounter in a coffee shop that would change his life forever. He knew the story needed to become a film, but bringing it to life would take 13 years. Along the way, he battled self-doubt, imposter syndrome, creative burnout, and the pressure of chasing a dream that seemed just out of reach. Ironically, it wasn't until he stepped away from that dream and fully embraced the opportunities in front of him that everything began to fall into place.

Together, Caraline and Jon explore what it really means to redefine success, trust life's timing, and embrace the discipline required to pursue something meaningful. Jon shares the deeply personal story behind Above the Clouds, how creating the film became a powerful part of his healing journey after losing his father, and why telling authentic stories has the power to help others heal too.

From covering the Super Bowl and World Cup for Fox Sports to directing an award-winning feature film inspired by his own life, Jon's journey is a reminder that success is rarely a straight line, and that our greatest setbacks often prepare us for our greatest purpose.
