Cardboard Cynics

On Episode XII of Cardboard Cynics, Carlos and  @DansVintageBaseballPC  go through their reasons to be Cynical and Cheerful as usual, as they explore Overanalysis in the Hobby, its Corporate Takeover, and Dan forgets to wait until the Patreon Recording to make an announcement (there is no Patreon....).All this and somehow Bruce Buffer is referenced! We are back with another installment of your favorite hobby duo, as cynical and snide as ever about this hobby that we put up with.

As always, 3 topics each to be Cynical and 3 to be cheerful -- because it's not all doom and gloom in the hobby, some things and some people can make us smile.‪@BecauseImCarlos‬ Victor's video:   • 4 Things Sports Card Content Creators Do T...  Heritage Collection Purchase:https://x.com/Heritage_Sport/status/2...More Attention to Wrestling Cards?https://www.patreon.com/posts/role-of...The Friday Live:   • Hobby Talk Live #293  Boston Card Hunter posting legal nonsense:https://x.com/BosCardHunter/status/20...Collector Connection:https://thecollectorconnection.com/ca...Carlos's Wrestling Channel:‪@BICWrestling‬ Mentions:‪@jpcards‬ ‪@true_rcs‬ ‪@chrisfrommissouri‬ ‪@Sanderson2Orr‬ ‪@MrJmangini‬ ‪@DoubleDvintagebaseballcards‬ ‪@vintageoddballcards6103‬ ‪@TJ_Is_Online‬ ‪@SouthernCollector14‬ ‪@mikehamm007‬ ‪@NEO_Cards_Comics‬ ‪@ClementeCollector‬ ‪@WaxPackWisdom‬ ‪@TheGradedGamer‬ ‪@EverydayCardCollector-Jason‬ ‪@4CollectorsForCollectors‬

We have returned for Episode 9 of the Cardboard Cynics series, this time with Carlos on location at the Toronto Expo. There was a lot to cover in this episode, as some hobby "voices" have made some silly claims, a nice bit of data proves one of Dan's disputed claims, we are cheerful for many reasons, and much more. And you can stick around until the end when Dan quotes the Bible. Yes, that happened.‪@BecauseImCarlos‬ Links:Rob Veres on Instagram:  / dxzc39-jknj  Victor's video about Veres:   • @BurbankCards Rob Veres Sounds Off on Allo...  NEO's video about doomed LCS:   • Is This the End of Local Card Shops?  Gordy Bonker declares himself "The Voice of the Vintage Side of the Hobby":   • PSA’s First Ever Grader on His Most Memora...  Gordy Bonker with Jeremy Lee:   • Sports Card Live’s Jeremy Lee on the Bigge...  The $500 Card Holder:https://m1ntaverse.com/products/the-m...Mentions:‪@Sanderson2Orr‬ ‪@bobbyburrellvhc‬ ‪@RipFan8‬ ‪@Canadian_Cards‬ ‪@90sauctions‬ ‪@true_rcs‬ ‪@NEO_Cards_Comics‬ ‪@MrJmangini‬ ‪@vintageoddballcards6103‬ ‪@professorsportscards‬ ‪@SportsCardsNonsense‬ ‪@bobblesandballcards‬

On Episode 8 of Cardboard Cynics, Carlos and  @DansVintageBaseballPC  go through their reasons to be Cynical and Cheerful as usual, as Darren Rovell enters the world of promoting repacks, The National potentially loses its status as a destination show, and they briefly discuss why nobody likes a quitter.New Cardboard Cynics Podcast Link:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cardboard-cynics/id1877457637Cardboard Cynics YouTube playlist:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_GJ6jOJbkbsKo9Mf6jCP8yW6Q8EXWgSPEpisode References:Darren Rovell’s foray into the world of digital repacks from Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/p/DXKgB3en37x/Baseball Collector Video discussing autographs purchased:https://youtu.be/xMyP2aeutvg?si=N24pGKqKhwSla6k5Reacting to the "PSA Responds to Deactivating My Favorite Card" T-Pott interview on Market Movershttps://youtu.be/z0xSamph80U“GameStop Launches Slot Machine-Style Power Packs Platform”https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com/gamestop-launches-slot-machine-style-power-packs-platform/Other references:Mentions:Dan's YouTube Channel:https://www.youtube.com/@DansVintageBaseballPCCardboard Cynics Playlist:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_GJ6jOJbkbsKo9Mf6jCP8yW6Q8EXWgSPComments/Questions Welcome as always#SportsCards #TheHobby

In the Lucky 7 episode, we discuss Darren Rovell's highly questionable decision to consign a five-figure ticket to Probstein, Dan sheepishly returns to mocking Geoff, we shake our heads at Jim Beckett's decision to talk about shill (and "shield") bidding yet again, and we are cheerful about a variety of fun hobby stuff coming soon. And stick around for Carlos connecting the dots again to FTX! As we mourn a kazoo and what might have been, it is time for another episode of Cardboard Cynics. One of us won an award, but not what you expected. Another discussion of grading? Hardly. But in the end it's all just the diamond encrusted logo patch auto card we make of our lives.‪@BecauseImCarlos‬ Death of a Kazoo Live Segment:   • Live Stream Excerpt: Death of a Kazoo #Jus...  BIC Interview with TPott:   • Talking Grading with T-Pott from Market Mo...  Hobby Hotline Interview with TPott:https://www.youtube.com/live/Zl_7mH2e...Kevin O'Leary Looking Like an Idiot:https://x.com/DEADLINE/status/2028240...Viral Card Show Dealer Encounter:  / dvmgci8ezqn  Mentions:‪@4CollectorsForCollectors‬ ‪@TheSportsCardDad‬ ‪@chrisfrommissouri‬ ‪@brad8671‬ ‪@MarketMovers‬ ‪@Misfitcollectors‬
