Now that you have a chart and you have placed the Actors on the stage,  lets explore what narratives are revealed. We will approach topics from  two perspectives, two different styles of interpretation models for  reading a natal chart.  The biggest disclaimer one must embrace is this  “The parts can not paint the complete picture” To grasp the whole chart  picture is a journey that is always unfolding…. Yet we can gain insight  when we step into the chart and look around!

What is Astro*Carto*Graphy?

Astro*Carto*Graphy is the study of how astrology plays into the energies of specific locations.

Developed in the 1970s by American astrologer Jim Lewis, Astro*Carto*Graphy can lend us insight into why specific places affect us the way they do.

Astrology is all about how the placement of the planets affect us as individuals. Astro*Carto*Graphy takes this concept one step further and maps where the planets were rising and setting all over the world when someone was born.  Certain places, for example, may cause you emotional unrest, while others might bring out the playful side of your personality, etc.

This week we will walk through the first step in an example of the Hellenistic approach to natal chart interpretation. The ancients with their “stoic” mind set wanted to know is this a life of ease or not! Must they grin and bare “it”.

The Spring Equinox, marks the the New Year/New Start to the Astrological wheel. The tropical “Zodiac” starts with 0’ Aries and the chart for this moment has been studied for centuries.  Mundane astrology is a branch of astrology that involves the application of astrological principles in order to study large groups of people, such as cities and nations.

Whereas natal astrology is restricted to studying the lives of individuals, mundane astrology is used to study groups. This involves  specific techniques such as the Aries ingress chart. We take a gander at the Canada Aries Ingress Chart

Modern Chart reading Has it’s unique way of approaching this, using descriptors such as Freedom Fate, Subjective Objective.  Hellenistic Astrology looks at Sect and Benefics and Malefics, fate and fortune . Using our two examples we will look at the big picture. Time permitting the Mode and Element balance in the chart as well.
