This is a card of sustainability, of harvesting what you need versus taking it all. Melissa sees this card of taking all the intentions and goals you harvest. There is some frustration involved, which makes this similar to the other suit sevens. There may be some harsh reality of working hard and either succeeding (RWS) versus the Luna Sol Tarot which is Thoth-based. Hilary says this card is the “pick your hard” card.

No one likes a thief and a liar and a sneaky person. The Seven of Swords talks about how trust and knowledge can be stolen. It’s a spikey card of subterfuge where the “person trying to get away with it” will get caught. Melissa sees this as how much do you trust the folks around you. It can also represent cheating on a partner (whether it’s you or others). Hilary sees this card as a “thinking about” card, that the person is not trustful. And sometimes this person is an aspect of you where you may try and get away with something. Jaymi reads this card as someone is out to get you and you gotta watch your back.

Homework: Why do people lie? Find out your reasons for yourself and others and see how it reflects back into the Seven of Swords. How does this hurt and how can you learn through the situation?

It’s all a conspiracy! The Seven of Cups has so much symbolism you can get steeped in the lore. Melissa sees this card as your wishes and where you can go with what you want. There’s an aspect of whimsy and dream-like quality. Hilary calls this the idea-rrhea card. Too many choices. Jaymi sees this card as the window shopping card where you need to choose what you want wisely. Do you take one of the cups of the deadly sins, or do you move on to get what aligns to your path?

Melissa’s view is that this is a bad intentions card, not a good position and shows an untrustworthy situation. Hilary says it’s about defending your turf, and standing your ground. Jaymi believes that there is a cause for why you feel so defensive and need to stand your ground. There’s so much going on with the number seven, both in general and in tarot’s structure and mythology.

Across history, and in many cultures there’s so many associations with the number seven. There are seven days of the week. Seven continents with seven seas. Seven colors of a rainbow. Seven major stars in the big dipper. Seven deadly sins and virtues. Seven notes in a major/minor scale. Seven chakras. Seven wonders of the ancient and natural world. Seven metals of antiquity.

In tarot, seven has a mixed reception. Melissa’s represents the sevens as conflict, and impatience. You don’t get what you want, yet. You still need to put in the work and wait for it to manifest.

Homework: Look up what seven means to you. Compare and contrast all 7s with one another to what we’ve said.
