Erin Barrio is the founder of Cushy, an online portfolio where "community is key". Through a platform that includes a print and digital magazine, podcast and more, Cushy is bringing together women from across the country to build the content together.

Erin started Cushy as a personal pursuit of creativity, but quickly noticed there was opportunity to scale it to something bigger.

In a day where most people are concerned about creating a personal brand and getting credit for their content, I am so encouraged by Erin's path.

Instead of making Cushy all about her, she is experimenting and learning how to build a platform that not only feeds her readers, but feeds her team of contributors.

Erin's full-time job in venture capital has helped her think about things a bit differently than most bloggers, and we discuss all of it in today's episode!

But she is also an artist and an advocate for people with chronic illness. She works and feeds her passions with such diligence, I'm always left admiring her. Kait is the Community Support Manager at the Rising Tide Society, which is a worldwide organization that supports creative entrepreneurs across the globe.

But that’s just a glimpse into her world. She also is a skilled watercolor painter and an advocate for people with chronic illness.

Kait’s own experience with a chronic illness and somewhat “backwards” transition from full-time entrepreneur to working for a larger company has given her a unique perspective on work. Her words are full of wisdom and forethought.

As creatives, we often find ourselves feeling weighed down by all the things we "should" have, or by the lack of resources or opportunities we think we need to succeed. Bricolage is a fun and fancy word that essentially means "to make do with what's at hand".

What makes it special is that the root word of bricolage means "to tinker" and so the idea is that tinkerers are always creating and innovating in a playful way.
