Things to keep in mind for people who want to work in sales:

Sales is “a partnership, not just an individual sale”
“Less pushy, and a little more love” in account management goes a long way
The pressure is always on in sales to meet quotas
Insights:
Perception when studying marketing is that you can either go into sales or market research, but realized there are a lot more opportunities than that
Sales has helped Stephanie understand the ins and outs of the businesses she works with, as well as customer experience
Her opportunities in sales have included marketing focuses, such as working with partners to enhance their website and maximizing investments to drive traffic to product pages online
Even if you are in one role, that doesn’t mean you cannot explore other roles or areas that are of interest to you personally or professionally
It is easier to switch roles (across departments) once you are more well established within a company
Sales is not always the used-car salesman-like experience, nor is it constantly sitting on the phone
Building a relationship early is critical to sales. Once you’ve developed a strong relationship, the relationship comes first and the sales fits in naturally because you’re working in their best interests
Working with partners, such as supply chain and finance, are essential aspects to sales and account management
Don’t want to come across as if you are trying to only benefit yourself, you want to develop trust with the other party you are trying to sell to that you are working in their best interests
Need to ensure the bottom line of the company you work for is always in the back of your mind when selling products
Sales provides the opportunity to meet people from a diverse set of skills, experiences, geographies, personalities, and backgrounds
Working in sales has helped Stephanie grow both personally and professionally
