Today, Lynn Alexander is joined by Roger Myers, President & CEO of PVM, as well as Katie Sloan, President & CEO of LeadingAge. They discuss the goals of LeadingAge and the importance of honoring Roger Myers with their highest recognition of Award of Honor for his 40+ years of exceptional contributions to creating opportunities for older adults to live their best lives. Roger also recalls the many moments that have impacted his life and career serving older adults at PVM. 

Today, Lynn Alexander is joined by three summer interns from the LeadingAge Summer Enrichment Series program at PVM—Alexandra, Edgar, and Emmanuel—to discuss their backgrounds, areas of study, and their experience so far. They also talk about their plans for the future and how they will apply what they have learned through this innovative program at PVM.

Lynn Alexander discusses the importance of planning financially and strategically for long-term care before it becomes an immediate priority for yourself or for your loved one(s). She shares valuable insights and information on how to plan ahead and be prepared to pay for long-term care, using different strategies such as Medicaid, or other alternative programs, and even long-term care insurance. Lynn also discusses the benefit of accessing a durable power of attorney to manage financial affairs if unable to do so, or a medical power of attorney to make sure wishes are followed with regard to medical care and procedures, before a crisis situation arises.

For over 40 years, Dr. Graddy-Dansby has focused her medical practice on working with the elderly. She was initially inspired by her relationship with her grandfather, and the feeling that seniors were often “invisible” within the community.
