  • Reggae Celebration: The works of legendary Ken Boothe and Derrick Harriott
Ken Boothe OD (born 22 March 1948) is a #Jamaican vocalist known for his distinctive vibrato and timbre. Boothe achieved an international reputation as one of #Jamaica's finest vocalists through a series of crossover hits that appealed to both #reggae fans and mainstream audiences. Ken Boothe was born in Denham Town, #Kingston.  Boothe cites singer Owen Gray as a major influence, particularly after hearing Gray perform the Leiber and Stoller rhythm and blues version of the #1920s blues standard, "Kansas City Blues", written by E L Bowman and notably performed by Jim Jackson in 1927. Stranger Cole, who was an established artist and neighbor to Boothe, had already worked with Boothe on the Sir Percy sound system as well as recording two songs for independent producer Sir Mike though Boothe's major breakthrough came in 1963 after Cole arranged an audition at #Duke Reid's studio. The audition with Cole and Boothe performing the song "Unos Dos Tres" was a success and Boothe and Cole formed the duo 'Stranger & Ken' with the first track released by them being "Hush Baby" on the B-side of Cole's #Island Records single "Last Love".

  • Billboard Reggae Chart top 40 oldies 60s 70s-80s-90s and now
Besides its sound, reggae music is frequently associated with the common themes in its lyrics. The earliest #reggae lyrics spoke mostly of love, specifically romantic love between a man and a woman. But as the music and the musicians making it made their way into the #1970s, reggae started taking on a heavy #Rastafarian influence. Now the love being sung about was not just romantic love, but cosmic, spiritual love, the love of one’s fellow man, and of #God, or “Jah”. And when reggae singers weren’t singing about #love, they were singing about rebellion and revolution against the forces impeding that love, like the extreme violence, poverty,#racism, and government oppression they were witnessing or experiencing on a regular basis.

  • Jamming with early top-40-reggae-music-hits-from-up-and-coming-artists
“#Reggae” comes from the term “rege-rege” which means “rags” or “ragged clothes”, and this gives you your first clue into the story behind #reggae music. When it started out in Jamaica around the late #1960s, reggae music was considered a rag-tag, hodge-podge of other musical styles, namely Jamaican #Mento and contemporary Jamaican #Ska music, along with American #jazz and rhythm & blues, something like what was coming out of New Orleans at the time. Most listeners didn’t even distinguish reggae from #Jamaican #dancehall music or the slowed down version of ska music known as #Rocksteady, until possibly when the band Toots and the #Maytals came along.  There songs served as a sort of public notice that a new style of music had been born and was staking its claim on the musical frontier.

  • Health Alert: What is fibromuscular dysplasia-with You host -Kari Ulrich
Fibromuscular dysplasia is a condition that causes narrowing (stenosis) and enlargement (aneurysm) of the medium-sized arteries in your body. Reduced blood flow from narrowed arteries to the organs can affect the function of the organs.
Fibromuscular dysplasia appears most commonly in the arteries leading to the kidneys. Fibromuscular dysplasia can also affect the arteries leading to your brain, heart, abdomen, arms and legs.
Fibromuscular dysplasia can cause a number of complications, such as high blood pressure or tears of the artery (arterial dissection), if left untreated. Arterial dissection, or spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), can limit blood flow to the organ supplied by the injured artery.
While there isn't a cure for fibromuscular dysplasia, it can be treated effectively.

  • Honoring A living Reggae Icon Boris Gardiner Reggae Music Legacy
In 1957 Morgan entered the Vere Johns Opportunity Hour, a talent show held at the Palace Theatre in #Kingston. He won with rousing impressions of Little Richard and, shortly after that, was recruited to perform around the island with the popular Jamaican comedy team Bim and Bam. In 1959 Morgan entered the recording studio for the first time. Duke Reid, the acclaimed sound system boss, was looking for talent to record for his Treasure Isle record label. Morgan cut two popular shuffle-boogie sides "Lover Boy", a.k.a. "S-Corner Rock", and "Oh My". Soon after, Morgan cut the bolero-tinged boogie "Fat Man", which also became a hit. He also found time to record for Coxsone Dodd.
In 1960 Morgan became the only artist ever to fill the places from one to seven on the Jamaican pop chart simultaneously. Among those hits were "Don't Call Me Daddy", "In My Heart", "Be Still", and "Meekly Wait and Murmur Not". But it was the following year that Morgan released the biggest hit of his career, the Leslie Kong production of "Don't You Know", later retitled "Housewives' Choice" by a local #DJ. The song featured a bouncing #ska riddim, along with a duet by Morgan and Millicent "Patsy" Todd.

  • Reggae music from Jamaica the Best of the Best Oldies 60s70s80s90s
In the early #1970s, Perry was one of the producers whose mixing board experiments resulted in the creation of dub. In 1973, Perry built a studio in his back yard, The Black Ark, to have more control over his productions and continued to produce notable musicians such as Bob Marley & the Wailers, Junior Byles, Junior Murvin, The Heptones, The Congos and Max Romeo. With his own studio at his disposal, Perry's productions became more lavish, as the energetic producer was able to spend as much time as he wanted on the music he produced. Virtually everything Perry recorded in The Black Ark was done using basic recording equipment; through sonic sleight-of-hand, Perry made it sound unique. Perry remained behind the mixing desk for many years, producing songs and albums that stand out as a high point in #reggae history.Reggae music from Jamaica the Best of the Best Oldies 60s70s80s90s

  • Secret Health Herbs for illness you have around the home and essential oil
When the flu bites, when the cold stings … these are a few of my least favorite things! (And I bet I’m not alone!)
Fortunately, it is possible to protect against some cases of illness with natural remedies that boost the body’s amazing natural immune system. Even once an illness has struck, there are things a #mom (or dad) can do to get the family back on track. Herbal and #naturalremedies may not be a cure-all, but they can help shorten the duration and get you feeling better faster.
I posted before about what I keep in my #medicine cabinet (and in my purse when traveling), and 5 easiest an most commonly used natural remedies, but since we are once again in the height of flu season, I thought more information could be helpful.
