  • On your Feet come Dance the SKA tonight with the great Alphonso Castro
Ska Jamaican is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. Ska combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazza nd rhythm and blues. It is characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the upbeat. Ska developed in Jamaica in the 1960s when Prince Buster, Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, and Duke Reid formed sound systems to play American rhythm & blues and then began recording their own songs.[2] Some suggest ska dates to earlier times, however. In the early 1960s, ska was the dominant music genre of Jamaica and was popular with British mods. Later it became popular with many skinheads

  • Live: Zankhu Ziaweet African Mystery System Revealed The key to our survival.
When we think about African Spirituality we enter into an arena that is foreign to us. We have been told that Africa and what it has to offer is evil. We have been giving a concept of spirituality from our oppressor and now we don’t understand the basics of spirituality or reality… Zankhu Ziaweet will be taking us into the initiatic Mystery camps in Africa to expose to us our Ancestral Perspective of African mystery system...

    I'm Black and I'm Proud: A Poem about self-awareness...
    Updated on April 21, 2010
What does it mean to be black?
To buy fake hair just so it can swing down my back,
Or put 26 inch rims on "ice cream" painted Cadillacs?
As a matter of fact, I am black,
    And the last I checked, I have none of that;
So these things are accessories but not necessities of being black.
But, we follow the media hype,
So we fall into the stereotypes
Just, trying to fit it in
We go so far as to bleach our skin
    And then
Scream I'm black and I'm proud.
    Then look down
On those who wish to be more,
Than someone on a poster at a record store.
We define our culture by how we "cope"
Teach our sons and daughters that there is no hope
Watch our ancestors dreams go up in smoke
While we continually sit back and blow dope .
Instead of supporting, we kill each other
Over what neighborhood you're from and your favorite color
And our children are lost because there are no more mothers.
    Just,
    Baby Mamas.
    Who thrive on drama
And measure the quality of a man,
    By whether or not he drives a Hummer;
And when it all comes back to haunt us
    We crawl under,
The safety net of being black.
We don't care, you can call us niggers
As long as we make six figures,
    And count money stacks,
As long as you keep designer clothes on our backs
We'll call each other nigger for you.
There is no more need for a KKK
    We hate ourselves enough everyday
Then blame the white man for making us this way....
    And Scream,
    I'm black and I'm proud.

    Superwoman (talking ish)
    I am Superwoman because
in a single bound I can make a smile out of a frown
    because....
bad moments roll of my chest
like bullets off a bullet proof vest
    because.....
I can work, cook a tasty meal
    give the kids a bath
    and still have energy to
give my husband something he can feel
    because.....
    I can smell bullshit coming
    like Ray Charles could hear
    a hummingbird humming
    because...
I can tear down a persons brick wall
without using my hands at all
    because....
I can balance being a mother, a wife, and a friend
    all on one hand.
    because...
I know although I'm just one person
I can help God give many blessings.
    I am Superwoman,
    because
with out me there could be no Superman
