In many churches today, people tend to isolate themselves and have little, if anything, to do with each other apart from being at the same place at the same time on Sunday morning. The Scriptures call us to act very differently. They call us to become involved with one another, to know the needs, the joys, and the difficulties that brothers and sisters are facing, and to help them through those difficulties. We are to -bear one another's burdens.-

The Lord's Supper is, by definition, a covenantal ordinance but many participants at that meal miss the fulness and sweetness that it is meant to convey because they fail to understand all that it is designed to accomplish.

Not too many people like the idea of submitting to authority. Especially in America, we like to be in control and we like to do things our way. But for the Christian things should be radically different. We are meant to serve one another- which, by definition, will require that we submit to our brothers and sisters in the Lord.

As J.I. Packer says, preaching has fallen on hard times in our day. But preaching is God's method for saving and perfecting the saints. What most people in the Church do not realize is that preaching is the highest and most glorious way God reveals Himself to His people--it is, as the Apostle puts it, the power of God and the Wisdom of God.
