  • Vice & Virtue Brewing Co. - Kelowna, BC

A region that has seen some major development in recent years is Kelowna, British Columbia. Located in the Okanagan Valley, Kelowna has seen growth in not only the craft beer community in recent years, but also vineyards, tourism and technology. A new comer onto the sense, and who just celebrated their first year opening, are Vice and Virtue Brewing. I sat down with Matt Jewell & James Windsor.

  • Slackwater Brewing - Penticton, BC

A few months ago in the Spring, I was in Penticton attending and part of the judges panel for Okanagan Fest of Ales. While there I stopped in to say “Hi” to some friends of the podcast who were in the process of opening their own brewery. Like many stories I’ve encountered while making this podcast series, things don’t always go according to plan. The brewery had to change their name for various reasons a few days before my visit. But now fully open and operational I chatted Liam Peyton & Chris Vandenberg with Slackwater Brewing.

  • Brewer: Cat Wiest (Pelican Brewpub & Pink Boots Society)

Back in 2017 I went to Denver to attend my first Great American Beer Festival. On my first night there I went to the Pink Boots Society Rare Beer event. That’s where I met Brewer Cat Wiest. At the time she was working in Santa Cruz, but then flicked me a note saying she landed a job in Oregon. During my visit to the Oregon Coast last November I thought I would stop by and catch up with Cat at her new position at the Pelican Brewpub in Pacific City, OR.

  • Sherwood Mountain Brewhouse - Terrace, BC

I was very fortunate to visit a beautiful part of British Columbia. I traveled Highway 16 in the Northern part of the Provence recently and I made a stop in the community of Terrace. Sherwood Mountain is a brewery focusing mostly on lagers and has been quite successful in the local area. On a very busy Thursday afternoon, I sat down with the brewer and co-owner Darryl Tucker.

  • Passport: Malbygg Brugghus - Reykjavik, Iceland

I recently took a trip out of Cascadia to explore a new part of the world. I found myself in Iceland where craft beer is starting to take off in the country. Beer above 2% ABV was actually illegal in Iceland until 1989 and on top of that, not much agriculture in the country to speak of. So I was curious to find out how much the craft beer scene has grown in that short amount of time and what sort of challenges are faced in making beer in Iceland. I visited a local brewery with a team behind it who started importing craft beer. I sat down with Andri Kjartansson, Ingi Kjartansson and Steinn Stefánsson of Malbygg Brugghus.

  • Off The Rail - Vancouver, BC

I’m in the neighbourhood of Vancouver, BC known as Yeast Van. Just celebrating their fourth birthday, Off the Rail is a brewery that has been sticking to traditional recipes, yet not afraid to experiment from time to time to create new classics. I sat down with Steve Forsyth & Mike Evans.

  • Wheelhouse Brewing Co. - Prince Rupert, BC

I’m at either the end of the road or the beginning of it, depending on how you look at it. Prince Rupert, British Columbia is on the Pacific Coast of Highway 16 in the northern part of the Provence. Here a small local brewery has been winning awards for the past few years and yet are still kind of a secret to the larger world. I sat down with Craig Outhet of Wheelhouse Brewing.

  • Three Creeks Brewing Co. - Sisters, OR

Located in the majestic Deschutes National Forest is the town of Sisters, OR. I traveled here to visit a brewery that opened its doors during a not so ideal time period when the national economy was in a recession. But they have managed to grow despite the challenges they faced when they opened. I sat down with Wade Underwood, Jeff Cornett and Ashley Woody, at Three Creeks Brewing Co.
