I've left Cascadia and ventured to Denver, Colorado where I was fortunate enough to attend The Great American Beer Festival 2017. This is my first time at the festival and had such a great experience that I've documented in this episode.
I've come to Denver to not only learn about trending beers from around the country but also to see how influential the Pacific Northwest has been in the brewing industry.

Hearthstone Brewery is located in North Vancouver, BC where they have been brewing up some innovative craft beers since opening in 2014. Pairing perfectly with this brewery is their “Tap & Forno” restaurant next door which not only serves their brews fresh on tap but also features some great pizzas made in a custom pizza oven. I first sit down with Darren Hollett for the story behind Hearthstone Brewery, then with brewmaster George Woods about their beers.

With just over a year of having their doors open, I visited Penn Cove Brewing Company. Located on Whidbey Island in Washington State. Currently, they are opened as a taproom with dreams of soon becoming a brewery of their own. I spoke with owners Marc & Mitch Aparicio.

What if all your favorite breweries were on the same street? Well, that's exactly what has happened in Port Moody, BC. The zoning of the municipality has created a unique situation where all the breweries are located on Murray Street. There are four breweries situated on this street, which has earned it the nickname of "Brewers Row."
I'm focusing on two breweries in this episode and visit the remaining breweries in a future episode.
Today I'll be speaking with the first brewery to open on this street, Yellow Dog Brewing with co-owner Mike Coghill.
Later I'll walk down to the second brewery, Moody Ales and speak with co-founder Adam Crandall.

In the Northwestern corner of Washington State is a brewery dedicated to making organic ales and lagers. Aslan Brewing Company was an idea born in 2012 but took a few year to develop until they opened their doors. After 130 pilot batches, they opened their doors to the Bellingham public. I spoke with Owner & CEO, Jack Lamb.

I’m in Chemainus, BC on Vancouver Island at a brewery that took over seven years to open their doors. There is a lot behind the story of Riot Brewing Co. so I spoke with two of the founders Aly Tomlin & Ralf Rosenke.

I’m in Seattle, WA. Almost in the shadow of the Ballard Bridge, there is a brewery with an excellent view. RoofTop Brewing Company started in a garage in 2012, but always had a dream of becoming a place where you can enjoy a pint on a rooftop. I spoke with the head of operations Craig Christian.

During Bellingham Beer Week, I attended a talk by prominent beer writer, Joe Wiebe, better known as the 'Thirsty Writer'. The talk was about the history of craft beer in BC and key moments that ignited the revolution. If after listening to this you want to know more, you can check out Joe’s book ‘Craft Beer Revolution’.
