One of our biggest distractions to loving God and neighbor is our desire to fit in and go with the flow. For followers of Christ, this is the opposite of what we are called to do. We are to stand out by showing and sharing love to others. How can we shed our disguises and embrace the life Christ has in mind for us? Submission. Join us as we explore this word and concept.

What motivates you? For many in America, we are motivated by accomplishment. We start trying to solve the problem before we even hear the whole problem. We can get so busy doing things that we forget why we are doing them. We act as though we are helping, but in reality, we seek praise from others. Jesus says our works of righteousness (the good things we do) should be done in secret. How can this help us to live more like Christ? Join us as we dive in and look to understand.

Do you get distracted by the bad stories online? Are you addicted to chaos? Do you wonder why you see the world through a dark lens? Perhaps you are allowing the wrong voices to hold sway over your life. Our God is a God of hope and life. We should recognize that focusing on the broken only highlights the broken. We should focus on the light and life that Christ offers and not dwell in darkness.

When did it become dismissive not immediately respond to a text or phone call? Why do we now believe that waiting a day to hear back from someone is too long? Our world has become so focused on instantaneous communication and response.

What is it that makes you angry? If you are like so many people, anger is a result of inconvenience. Is it ok to get angry? As Christ followers are we supposed to be better than that? Even Jesus got angry. The interesting thing is that what makes Jesus angry and what makes us angry are very different things. How can we be more like Jesus in all aspects of our lives, even our anger?

BIG FEELINGS
Emotions can be hard to deal with. We can have mood swings and frustration followed by anger (not necessarily in that order). All of our emotions can have us asking where we should be emotionally as followers of Christ. The reality is that Christ knows our emotions personally and understands them in a way we don’t. Join us as we take a look at the emotions found in the Bible and how they can help us better live for Jesus.

FEELING SAFE?
Where do you find security? Finances, acquisitions, accomplishments, or political party? The truth is none of those things will bring you the security you desire. We strive for being safe now so that we can make it into the future. In order to find true security we need to have a firm foundation in the one who created all things and invites us into His life. 
Bible Verse
LUKE 6:46-49
46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

Fear and sadness are commonplace. Fear in an uncertain future. Sadness at the loss of the past. We can grieve the things that we lose and be fearful of the things we do not understand. The good news is that we serve a God that is bigger than our fears and our sadness. The God who raised the widow's son also invites you to be raised. If we have assurance in the forgiveness of our sins and in the life that is to come why do we fear.

LET’S MEET UP

Jesus meets so many people throughout His earthly ministry. His encounter and interaction with them allow them to be restored to relationship with God and to set off in a new direction. Join us as we take a look at four different encounters with Jesus and how we can be changed by Him now.

@ THE GARDEN

Have you ever been certain of what you had to do only to figure out that you were completely unprepared? When Jesus meets up with Mary in the Garden she knew what she was going to do. She was prepared to anoint the body of her dead rabbi. The truth was so much more beautiful and so much more complex. Join us as we see what meeting up with Jesus can do in our lives.

Bible Verse

Mark 16:1-8

16 Saturday evening, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went out and purchased burial spices so they could anoint Jesus’ body. 2 Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb. 3 On the way they were asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” 4 But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside.

5 When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, 6 but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body. 7 Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.”

8 The women fled from the tomb, trembling and bewildered, and they said nothing to anyone because they were too frightened.
