Catch ‘Em Up

We're taking you into the commercial fishing world with our first guest, Josh, whose dad got both him and Scotty D. fishing for money right out of high school. They're sharing what goes into commercial fishing, the catch, profit, and chaos that would unfold on these trips.

Our friends and family ask a lot for fresh fish, but they don't understand what goes into catching them. In this episode we're breaking down 3 recently requested fish (grouper, trout and bass), and breaking down the process that goes into landing them. And hopefully this helps you land them too.

Nothing like a trip to the Florida Keys, especially when it's a bachelor party! Scotty D hit our favorite bridge on Cudjoe Key for a snapper frenzy and got out on a double charter for some deep drop fun with the boys where they landed a ton of fish, including one he's never seen or caught.

We're going offshore in this episode chatting about what Scotts been catching on his charters during the "winter bite", and the excitement that comes from landing a billfish... also a little tac-tip when coms to targeting these fish.

We're back! After some major equipment issues and studio renovations the Catch 'Em up Podcast is back, and boy did we miss this.

Since we were MIA for a couple months, we're doing a 2021 recap ep. picking up where we left off. From a failed snapper & snook trip, thanks to Scotty D, to Lake Okeechobee where I lost the biggest bass of my life (also because of Scotty D), and where he slayed the Crappie using a jig on his new rod.

The "mullet run" in South Florida means it's a good time to go fishing, but NOT so good to be in the water when they're coming through, we'll explain. This episode is all about the mullet run, the snook, snapper, tarpon and other fish you'll catch on 'em, and we get a little into the pros and cons of pier vs boat fishing and the crazy stuff that goes down when both collide!

Scotty D had some recurring charter guests (Miffy and Leslie from Louisiana) out this week, getting them on the water for an epic day of Mahi fishing and helping get their mind off the rebuild and recovering they’ve had to endure after being hit with TWO major storms.

Them folks over in Louisiana are the kindest it comes, to think that they’ve had so much going on and still thought of our fishing team by gifting us with some delicious cajun jerky, custom koozies, budan sausage, and... head-hog cheese?

Offshore fishing talk takes a turn when Scotty D. shares what he found inside a Mahi he filleted this week and we address a major problem we’re seeing off our coast in West Palm Beach, FL.

Trash is increasingly taking over our oceans and effecting our marine life, we’re sharing what we see on our waters first-hand, and discus what we can do to better protect our marine life.

Moriah has recently gotten the radio station she works for (New Country 103.1 WIRK) to get involved and have teamed up with the Beach Bucket Foundation. We’ll be doing our first beach cleanup on October 10th, 2021 at Ocean Reef Park stating at 8am... if you’re in the area we encourage you to join us, or get involved with an organization in your area.

The struggle is real when it comes to trying to land a slot snook! In this episode we're breaking down the legal limit and crazy odd window of opportunity there is to catch a snook as Scotty goes over the proper tackle when fishing live or artificial, and we try to stay on track while sharing some stories of failed and successful "Snook Fishing" trips.

No matter if your fishing the mangroves, off a bridge or seawall, or on a boat dropping led off the reef, you're in for a good time when it comes to snapper fishing. In this ep we're talking the many ways to catch these delicious fish and what you'll need when it comes to caching mangrove, mutton, yellowtail snapper and more!
