This week’s episode is Alex’s last episode with us! We have a pretty open conversation as Alex bids us adieu (for the time being). This week Sofia and Alex talk with Monica, a flight attendant who tells us everything about what it’s really like to be a flight attendant! Monica explains all the responsibilities of being a flight attendant, how working as a flight attendant during COVID has been difficult, and explains the different roles each person on the plane plays. Then we get into the pros and cons of the job, how it affects your personal life and relationships, what it’s like to travel for work, and she tells us if she thinks the pros outweigh the cons. She also sheds some light on the stigma of what goes on behind closed doors while traveling for work. This week Sofia and Alex talk to Dr. Dalesa Martinez, relationship therapist and expert, about how traveling can strengthen your relationship with your significant other. First Alex and Sofia recap their week, dish about Love Island UK, and going to baseball games. Then we dive into the conversation with Dr. Dalesa. We discuss traveling early on in your relationship and working with your partner when things go wrong during your travels. We also discuss different travel desires and activities, how to find a compromise, and setting your boundaries with your significant other. We also get into how a good trip can strengthen your relationship in ways that are different from being at home with your partner. We give some examples of “red “flags” and what it means when someone displays a red flag. Dr. Dalesa explains the benefits of using travel to heal, on your own and with your partner, if it’s healing from a case of infidelity, loss of a family member, or anything else. We’re in the mood, the mood for food! This week we remember all the best food we’ve eaten around the world. Sofia talks about, and gives recommendations, for the best food she’s eaten in places like Paris, Istanbul and Mexico. Kristin gives the best California recommendations for places like San Francisco and introduces our listeners to a little town called Solvang. Have you been to the land of fire and ice yet? If not, Sofia is going to help you plan your entire trip to ICELAND! First, Kristin shares a little bit about the time she is having in Alaska, and we talk about renewable energy. Then we really do a deep dive into everything Sofia knows about Iceland. Sofia starts with talking about what you should know when planning your trip, the Icelandic pledge, which rental car to rent and why (big story here) and then dives into why one would travel to Iceland and gives all of her Reykjavik recommendations. She also stayed on the coolest horse farm in the fjords, and recounts the crazy story of a car accident, and how she was saved by the wonderful people of Iceland. Then we discuss everything in southern Iceland. From the black sand beaches, Jokulsarlon, Vatnajokull Glacier, Skaftafell national park and everything in between! This week Kristin and Sofia do a Disneyland deep dive! First, Kristin contemplates her upcoming birthday plans, then we virtually go to the happiest place on earth. Sofia talks about the years that she actually worked at Disneyland, and we go over what it’s like to grow up down the street from Disneyland. Then we discuss Sofia’s favorite thing, FOOD. After Sofia worked there for three years, and us growing up down the street from the park, we got quite a few tips you might not know!
