Today’s guest is Professor Kimberly D. Acquaviva. Kimberly has spent more than a decade working in education around inclusivity for LGBTQIA people in end of life care, A year and a half after she published LGBTQ-Inclusive Hospice & Palliative Care: A Practical Guide to Transforming Professional Practice in 2017, Kim learned that her wife Kathy had ovarian cancer. Kim and Kathy spent the next six months sharing their experiences via social media and giving people a sense of what it's like to be living while dying. Shortly after Kathy died in August 2019, a New Yorker documentary film was made about Kim, Kathy, and their son Greyson.
Kimberly is coming to Ireland as part of Palliative Care week, and I was so happy to catch up with her this week ahead of her trip.
