In the wake of Stephen Port’s murders, headlines about chemsex were dominated by the man the press dubbed the “Grindr Serial Killer”, and promises were made that things would change. But a decade on from Port’s convictions and sentencing for the Barking murders, have lessons really been learned?
Rory Boyle, a survivor of sexual assault in a chemsex context, has spent three years speaking to the police, doctors, sexual health workers, people who say they were failed by the systems they turned to for help, those trying to reduce harms taking place, and those who have lost friends and family to the chemsex scene. This is what he found.
Catch Us When We Fall: a new six-part investigation into chemsex and the systems surrounding it is out weekly from Nov 9th, 2026.
