Things soon become uncomfortable for Wendy, and she ends their dinner date early. Steven’s reaction is highly inappropriate, and his response to her leaving is our first clue that he is more than just socially awkward. Wendy is distraught after the date, and his words, “You just wait,” continue to echo throughout the story.
