  • Son Rise Morning Show 06/12/2024: Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. on Encounter: Drawing Others into an Encounter with Christ in the Eucharist

In this segment from the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C.  continues the series on the Eucharistic Revival and discusses encountering Christ in the Eucharist and helping others encounter Jesus Christ.

The National Eucharistic Revival is a three-year initiative sponsored by the Bishops of the United States to inspire and prepare the People of God to be formed, healed, converted, united, and sent out to a hurting and hungry world through a renewed encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist – the source and summit of our Catholic faith. The Revival officially launched in June 2022, and its milestone event will be a National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, IN, from July 17-21, 2024. The National Eucharistic Revival and National Eucharistic Congress are a direct response to the Holy Father’s call for a “pastoral and missionary conversion which cannot leave things as they presently are” so that the Church in the United States might be “permanently in a state of mission” (Evangelii Gaudium, n. 25).

This eucharistic movement seeks to bring together clergy, religious, laity, apostolates, movements, and parish and diocesan leaders to spur momentum, collaboration, and lasting impact for the renewal of the Catholic Church in the U.S. over the next three years. Each year will have a strategic focus for formation and missionary discipleship.

Living as Missionary Disciples: A Resource for Evangelization serves as a road map for leaders and provides principles of evangelization and missionary discipleship, with resources designed for pastoral leaders to develop, enhance, and review their own local strategies to create an evangelizing parish.

  • Blogcast: Finding Freedom in the Eucharist

This blogcast explores “Finding Freedom in the Eucharist," written and read by Danielle Schmitz.

In this blog post, Danielle discusses the freedom and love one can encounter by receiving Christ in the Eucharist and spending time visiting with him in Adoration.

“Dear young people, the happiness you are seeking, the happiness you have a right to enjoy has a name and a face: it is Jesus of Nazareth, hidden in the Eucharist. Only He gives the fullness of life to humanity!” – Pope Benedict XVI

All of us, including You and I, are all seen by the Father as His beloved daughters and sons, and He desires to show us that truth and the love He holds for us in a real, tangible way through the Eucharist. Every time we receive Jesus into our bodies, every time we spend time gazing into His face in adoration, we give Him the opportunity to remind us of how unconditionally loved we are, how we belong with Him and nothing else. These truths give us the freedom to not fear what waits in the world, nor fear the chains of sin or worldliness. They help us recognize that there is no fear in the perfect love we experience living in Jesus Christ, and the only thing we have to worry about is following His will. When the world is not something to fear, we can recognize creation as the gift that it is and receive what the Lord has waiting for us.

The next time you go to Mass or adoration, recognize that Love Incarnate is entering you in order to prove just how far He’ll go to show that you belong with Him. Allow that truth of His unconditional love and your belonging in it to shape the way you live your life, embracing the freedom He has won and given to us.

  • Blogcast: The Importance of Retreat Spaces

This blogcast explores “The Importance of Retreat Spaces” written and read by Sarah Harrigan.

In this blog post, Sarah reflects on the spaces and places that she has experienced during different retreats she attended and how they impact the experience.

Here at the Pallottine Seminary at Green Hill, we offer a full events facility for day events and can accommodate groups (smaller than thirty-five adults) for retreats, board meetings, or other similar group meeting needs. Additionally, there is a chapel for Mass, prayer, and adoration, a dining room for group meals, and several outdoor locations for break out groups or just to walk around our manicured fourteen acre landscaping. Just walking around Green Hill is such a relaxing experience; it is so quiet and serene, and such an enjoyable place to visit. Green Hill is even fully equipped with an audio / visual studio! Here, guests can record podcasts, film videos, and even host webinars from our studio space, which includes a teleprompter, lighting, microphones, and other items you may need. Our dedicated meeting space, the Queen of Apostles Room, was recently renovated to include a brand-new camera, microphone, and speaker system allowing for ease of use for events with virtual participants. Truly, most any amenity you may need for your group, you can find here. It is our hope that Green Hill can help to facilitate all your needs and enhance any retreat or group meeting experience.

Retreats have the ability to be an experience that can be both connective and solitary. Through retreats, I found my spiritual life growing not just through my own words and thoughts, but through those of whom I was journeying with. We hope that Green Hill can be the backdrop for your next group meeting space and facilitate all the meaningful conversations to come for you and your ministry.

  • Son Rise Morning Show 05/15/2024: Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. on God, the Holy Spirit - Sending of Apostles

In this segment from the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C.  discusses the sending of the Holy Spirit and the sending of the apostles.

Pentecost always occurs 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus and 10 days after his ascension into heaven. Because Easter is a moveable feast without a fixed date, and Pentecost depends on the timing of Easter, Pentecost can fall anywhere between May 10 and June 13.

The timing of these feasts is also where Catholics get the concept of the novena — nine days of prayer — because in Acts 1, Mary and the Apostles prayed together “continuously” for nine days after the Ascension leading up to Pentecost. Traditionally, the Church prays the novena to the Holy Spirit in the days before Pentecost.

The name of the day itself is derived from the Greek word “pentecoste,” meaning 50th.

  • Son Rise Morning Show 05/08/2024: Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. on Mary, Queen of Apostles - Model of Christian Life, Intercessor, Mother, Queen

In this segment from the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C.  discusses the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title Queen of Apostles. The focus is on her as model of Christian life, as intercessor, mother, and queen. They also talk about the feast day itself (Saturday before Pentecost).

"The perfect example of this type of spiritual and apostolic life is the most Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Apostles, who while leading the life common to all here on earth, one filled with family concerns and labors, was always intimately united with her Son and in an entirely unique way cooperated in the work of the Savior. Having now been assumed into heaven, with her maternal charity she cares for these brothers of her Son who are still on their earthly pilgrimage and remain involved in dangers and difficulties until they are led into the happy fatherland. All should devoutly venerate her and commend their life and apostolate to her maternal care."

(Apostolicam Actuositatem, Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, 4)

This blogcast explores “St. Kateri Tekakwitha: Lily of the Mohawks," written by Pat Fricchione and read by Sarah Harrigan.

“St. Kateri Tekakwitha: Lily of the Mohawks," by Pat Fricchione. In this Blogcast, Pat Fricchione, the author, describes the life of a World Youth Day Krakow patron Saint, St. Kateri Tekakwitha. St. Kateri Tekakwitha, was born in 1656 to a Mohawk father and a Christian Algonquin mother in modern upstate New York. She contracted smallpox in her youth, which led to poor eyesight. She learned about the Christian faith from Jesuit Father Jacques de Lamberville and received Baptism and First Holy Communion on Christmas day at the age of 21. She died on April 17, 1680 at the age of 24 and Pope Benedict XVI canonized her on October 21, 2012, made her patron of the environment, and her feast day is July 14. Pat Fricchione concludes his blog post with a reminder of the need to care for our common home as explained in Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’.
