Jurassic 5 is a hip hop group formed in 1993 by rappers Chali 2na, Akil the MC, Soup aka Zaakir, Marc 7; DJ Nu-Mark and Cut Chemist. The six piece crew that was formed, made their mark out of the Los Angeles venue Good Life.
Akil and I talk about the history of the group, hip hop evolution, the truth about how the group came together & got their name. Those pesky Tupac rumors and the effect its had on his life; as well as dealing with internet trolls.. It was a great honor to meet Akil and now call him a friend!

In 1996, I remember reading a year end recap written by Conan O’ Brien entitled “The Year of Near Miss..” Well, 2021 was what I would refer to as my “year of near miss..” If you take the negatives, add the positives you end up at net zero. Pandemic, Karens, Changes, Goals, Wins, and Losses.
It was a good year to have a podcast; but as it closes - it’s a better year to be humble, admit self defeat, admit getting in your own way, then use that as a path for discipline to set new goals for this next year.
