A concerned citizen of Grand Falls-Windsor has asked the town council to help reduce those disturbances. (Starts at 1:08) Bernice Hillier was live on location today in Cow Head, as the Gros Morne Theatre Festival prepared to open at Theatre Newfoundland Labrador's brand-new theatre building. TNL Artistic Director Jeff Pitcher told us about the making of a dream come true. (12:37) The building was named the Nurse Myra Bennett Centre as a tribute to the legendary local midwife and nurse. She delivered her grandson Noel Bennett, who spoke today about the honour bestowed on his family. Also, (21:18), a research scientist for Natural Resources Canada cautioned people to watch out for ticks in NL this summer. And (28:35) Barb Vokey has retired after 43 years as school secretary at Bishop White School in Port Rexton.

June is Pride month, and CBC Newfoundland Morning's "People You Should Know" series focuses on members of the LGBTQ+ community in NL. Roxanne Letiec and Carla Cooper-Letiec of Stephenville got married in 2012 and are now parents to a very active six year old named Grace. Getting married in a church was important to Roxanne and Carla, but being allowed to do it was a hurdle that took a secret vote to overcome.

For this edition of "Havin' a Yarn," we're headed to Newtown, part of New-Wes-Valley, Bonavista Bay. Newtown is about an hour-and-a-half drive from Gander...and it's called the "Venice of Newfoundland." Our guide is Judy Stagg, Executive Director of the Barbour Living Heritage Village.

Alicia Winter of Glenwood says she always knew she was a writer, although she didn't always think her work was worthy of publishing. But with encouragement from her family, she has released her first children's book. The Kinder Way is about choosing kindness - even to those who may not think they deserve it.

Last summer, NL school bus operators had to scramble to buy extra buses, to meet public health restrictions and allow drivers and passengers to keep a safe distance onboard. Operators signed contracts and brought new buses to the province. But now, some operators say that with no word on what will happen next school year, they have to sell off their fleets to stay afloat. Evan Bursey co-owns Newfound Transit and Bursey's Busing Service in Conception Bay South, and he has put 15 almost-new buses on the market. Adam Buckle is the director of Buckle's Busing in Corner Brook.

Mi'kmaw researchers say there is no historical basis for the so-called mercenary myth, which says the French brought Mi'kmaq to NL to kill the Beothuks. We celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day with live music from a Native American flute maker in Corner Brook, and the fundraising group for the province's first residential hospice has raised sixty-five per cent of its goal.
