CBS Radio Mystery Theater (CBSRMT) was a radio drama created by Himan Brown and broadcast from 1974 to 1982. Hosted mainly by E. G. Marshall, the series revived the style of classic old-time radio mystery and suspense programs. Each episode opened and closed with a creaking crypt door and Marshall’s famous greeting, “Come in! Welcome. I’m E. G. Marshall.” The show became known for its eerie atmosphere, suspenseful stories, and signature phrase, “The sound of suspense.” Tammy Grimes hosted the final season in 1982.
