Join CCAirwaves as Joel Hansel and Kathy McKiernan welcome back Rhonda Abrams, Bereavement Coordinator at Catholic Cemeteries Association. Rhonda will share some interesting background on Father's Day and thoughts and strategies to assist those who are grieving the loss of a father, child, fatherhood dreams, or those who simply feel a relationship "loss" associated with the father-child relationship. We help our listeners understand that they are not alone and there are things that we can do to honor the fathers or father figures in their lives and lessen the anxiousness or stress felt with the approaching Father's Day holiday.

You can find more ideas for honoring your grief and your father figure at:

We also share a beautiful prayer- A Litany for Father’s Day  -written by author, and speaker Laura Kelly Fanucci in her blog Mothering Spirit.

    A Litany for Father’s Day

    By Laura Kelly Fanucci

God of love, Today we ask your blessing on all who give their lives with a father’s love.

Bless new fathers and wise grandfathers. Bless loving uncles and caring godfathers.

Bless fathers who await the birth of their child with joy. Bless men who did not expect or want to become fathers.

Bless men who embrace fatherhood through adoption or foster parenting, remarriage, or single parenthood. Bless men still waiting and hoping to become fathers.

Bless fathers whose work takes them away from their children. Bless fathers whose work is with their children.

Bless fathers whose lives are shaped by war, poverty, or violence. Bless fathers who work for peace, freedom, and justice.

Bless teachers and mentors who serve as father figures. Bless priests and ministers who lead as loving parents.

Bless men who are separated from their children, by force or choice. Bless families without fathers and all who love in abundance in their absence.

Bless fathers who have lost a child. Bless families who have lost their father.

Bless all whose fathers were loving. Bless all whose fathers failed to meet their needs for love.

Bless all who celebrate Father’s Day. Bless all who struggle with Father’s Day.
In the name of the Trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – we pray.

    Amen.

  • Rockin' the Rosary- CCAirwaves Welcomes Co-Authors Vicki and Mollie Stracensky

    Send us Fan Mail

Do you want to grow closer to our Blessed Mother and understand the Rosary and how it can help you find peace, hope, and strength during life's difficulties and struggles?  If so, then listen to this CCAirwaves episode as we welcome the dynamic mother/daughter duo of Vicki and Mollie Stracensky, author and contributor of Rockin' the Rosary, and featured in the January/February 2022 issue of Northeast Ohio Catholic Magazine.

Rockin' the Rosary is a beautiful book designed to help readers of all ages focus and reflect on this extraordinary prayer. With the book's guidance and beautiful images and interpretations of the prayers and Mysteries of the Rosary, readers are drawn to a closer relationship with Jesus, as we pray "to Jesus, through Mary".   The book received the Imprimatur from the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, which is an official license by the Roman Catholic Church to print an ecclesiastical or religious book.

The book is a valuable resource for anyone who is struggling to navigate life's difficulties- especially the families that we serve at Catholic Cemeteries Association, who may be suffering during times of loss. The world is also suffering through times of war and violence. Padre Pio once said, " The Rosary is the 'weapon' for these times." Embracing the true meaning behind the Rosary can be a powerful tool for peace, strength, hope, and healing.

We thank Vicki and Mollie for sharing their story with us and we congratulate Mollie on her stellar high school career. She is the Valedictorian of the Class of 2022 at Holy Name High School, where she also excelled in basketball and cross country. Mollie has received and accepted an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy where she plans on studying engineering. We wish her all the best and as she serves, we'll pray!

If you are interested in purchasing the book Rockin' the Rosary for your organization, parish, school, or ministry, volume discounts are available. It makes a great gift for First Holy Communion, RCIA, Legions of Mary, and more.  Please contact Vicki at rockintherosary.com or call 440.759.3255.

We hope you enjoy today's podcast. Be sure to also listen to our next Rosary Podcast, and join us as we pray The Joyful Mysteries (Mondays and Saturdays). Visit our website or follow our podcasts @CCAirwaves and pray the daily Rosary with each of the Mysteries highlighted for the particular day of the week.

  • CCAirwaves and The Legion of Mary Prays the Rosary, Luminous Mysteries

The Catholic Church, by tradition,  dedicates each month of the year to certain devotion. The month of May is dedicated to Mary, Our Mother and during this month, we pray the Holy Rosary, one of the best known of all Catholic devotions. We pray "to Jesus, through Mary". A beautiful way to celebrate the month dedicated to the Holy Rosary, and to remember our deceased loved ones, is to pray the Rosary and we have reunited with our friends from the Legion of Mary, to pray the Luminous Mysteries.

Join our regular hosts from CCA: Joel Hansel, Webmaster / Media Design Specialist and Kathy McKiernan,  Marketing & Communications Manager, as we welcome Rhonda Abrams, CCA Bereavement Coordinator and local Legion of Mary-Northern Ohio friends: Kevin Parnell, President of the Cleveland West Comitium and St. Charles Praesidium; Carrie Kercel, President of St. Albert the Great Praesidium; and Pam Luber-Vice President, of West Side Comitium.  We invite you to pray the Rosary with us.
