The American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is the mental health profession's “billing bible.” The initial edition of DSM contained 112 so-called disorders but as psychiatry has classified more and more human reactions and frailties as mental disorders, the most recent edition grew to contain 374.  If a psychiatrist can “diagnose” you with one of the disorders listed in DSM, it is the key to prescribing psychiatric drugs, billing for treatment, consultations, etc. But none of those disorders is a legitimate disease on the order of cancer, diabetes or even the flu as there is no objective, measurable evidence of a disease condition (even the flu has fever, which can be measured). Dr. Fred Baughman, a neurologist for 35 years, has spent a considerable span of his medical career debunking the psychiatric model of the fabled yet undemonstrated “chemical imbalance” which has been used to justify the prescribing of psychiatric drugs whose chemical effects are not even understood by the manufacturers. The fraud is rampant and, with the publication of the next (and certainly larger) edition of DSM, threatens to become more so. Dr. Baughman exposes this fraud in today's 35-minute show.

Knowing nothing about the mind, the brain, or about the underlying causes of serious mental disturbance, psychiatry still sears the brain with electroshock, tears it with psychosurgery and deadens it with dangerous drugs.  This week's guest is Dr. Bob Kamath, a practicing psychiatrist who doesn't prescribe such ''treatments.''

The Mom's Opportunity to Access Health, Education, Research, and Support for Postpartum Depression Act sounded very supportive of new mothers. The truth is just the opposite. The cleverly worded title can be shortened to the Mothers Act, but it was written by and for the psychiatric/pharmaceutical industry. The Mothers Act was included in the immense health care plan that was signed into law. New mothers need to be made aware that this Act was not written to benefit them, but to benefit psychiatry and the drug companies. This Act will have grave results literally. This week's guest is Amy Philo, a mother who became an advocate against the use of antidepressants for so-called Post Partum Depression, forming the group Unite for Life, which has been outspoken against the Mother's Act and other legislation intended to force women into screening and drugging for this.

Psychiatrists promote mental health as being of equal priority to physical health. The harsh reality, however, is that the analogy between physical and mental healing breaks down when contrasting the results of physical healing to the results of what passes for mental treatment today, under the influence of psychiatry. In simple terms, while medical cures exist, psychiatric ones don't. Under the management of psychiatry today, there is no mental healing. The true resolution of many mental difficulties begins, not with a checklist of symptoms, but with ensuring that a competent, non-psychiatric physician completes a thorough physical examination. Mental healing treatments should be gauged on how they improve and strengthen individuals, their responsibility and their spiritual well-being—without relying upon powerful and addictive drugs.  This week's guest is nutrition expert Spice Williams-Crosby, who will discuss how to do just that.

For 50 years, psychiatry has promoted its theory that the only “treatment” for mental “illness” is psychiatric drugs. However, not only is the drugging of patients unnecessary—and expensive—it causes brain- and life-damaging side effects. The simple truth is that there are workable alternatives to psychiatry's destructive treatments and you as a patient have the right to refuse it. The United Nations Convention on Psychotropic Substances 1971 is an international treaty that governments are violating every time they fail to protect foster care and other children from excessive and unwarranted exposure to psychiatric drugs. However, foster care kids are often prescribed drugs for “behavioral control.” About 42% of all kids in foster care in the US are given three or more mood-altering drugs. This week's guest is Beverly Gardner, a Foster parent on a mission to stop these violations against children within the Foster Care system.

In recent years, the U.S. Senate has investigated and exposed extensive financial conflicts of interest of prominent psychiatrists with the pharmaceutical industry amounting to millions of dollars.  Various psychiatrists who advocated the use of particular psychiatric drugs were found to be getting kickbacks from the manufacturer of those drugs. These financial conflicts of interest between psychiatrists and the pharmaceutical industry turns out to be a key part of a massive marketing scheme by pharma started many years ago to sell more expensive psychiatric drugs. Called the Texas Medication Algorithm Project, or TMAP, this national mental health screening/ psychotropic drug treatment plan has spread throughout the country and has involved government officials as well as some of the more prominent psychiatrists in the U.S. Allen Jones, who worked as an investigator in the Pennsylvania Office of the Inspector General (OIG), gained widespread national and international attention as the whistleblower who uncovered and exposed TMAP, discusses the results of these psychiatric/pharmaceutical conflicts of interest in this 32-minute show.

Electroshock treatment is reportedly trying to stage a comeback.  Yet, the devices used in electroshock have never even undergone approval by the Food and Drug Administration for safety and efficacy.  This week's guest is attorney Kendrick Moxon, who has worked on cases dealing with ECT and the damages caused by it.

Psychologists and other mental health counselors employed or assigned by family courts have the power to affect the lives of parents and children for better or worse. One such way they overstep their boundaries is through Parent Alienation Syndrome (PAS). PAS is an alleged (and thoroughly discredited) “mental disorder” applied to one parent in a divorce-custody matter by the opposing party's psychological expert in the following manner: “The child(ren) are fearful of or angry at Parent B (my client). It appears that Parent A has been telling the child(ren) negative things about my client in an effort to make the child(ren) fear my client, refuse visitation with him, etc. These efforts are proof that Parent A has PAS and so should not have custody of the child(ren).” Use of this “diagnosis” sometimes obscures the fact that there may be documented reasons or logical foundations for the child(ren)'s fears or the parent's concern, such as actual sexual abuse, domestic violence or the opposing parent's criminal record.  Attorney Andrew J.
