Join us today for a special message from the Shelby Baptist Association, Pastor Ric Camp!
Families matter to God. That’s why few things are more painful than unresolved family conflict. Families fight and deal with minor issues constantly, but a happy home can turn into a war zone if Satan has his way. Sadly, family fighting in homes and in churches, is a part of the enemy's ultimate plan for Christian division. Matthew 12:25 says, "A House divided against itself cannot stand." Join us this Sunday at 10 AM as we close out our Family Matters sermon series looking at God's plan for the "Family Squabble" - a study on how to resolve family conflict God's way.
We live in a day and age of overbusyness and overscheduling with long days, long weekends, and long hours. The demands of money and success are knocking at everyone's door. God says we must have a Sabbath. At the center of the Sabbath is the word "rest". The Lord's Sabbath is intended for people to learn to recharge. The Sabbath is God's stress management program! It is how to prevent burnout, how to refuel and catch your breath.
Scripture gives two reason for the Sabbath. The first, in Exodus 20:11, God finished creation in 6 days and then rested. God rested because the work was finished, and so must we. A second reason the Sabbath was given, God said, “Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day” (Deuteronomy 5:15). They were to rest in order to reflect on God's ability to work beyond their "work". There is a rest from work and then there is the rest of rejoicing in the power of God. Come rest with us this Sunday as Pastor Rick continues the Family Matters series with the sermon, "The Family Sabbath".
Paul writes to the Church in Ephesians 6: "Children obey" and "honor" your parents, followed by "fathers, do not exasperate your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." Parents need children and children need parents. It is God's plan and purpose to continue the gospel through the examples of the family. In the day and age we live in, it is paramount that parents lead the way in discipline, discipling, and devotion to their children. Children are not to be peer-raised, teacher-raised, or electronic-raised; they are to be parented. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way He should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." What is the reciprocation of such Godly dedication? Children who obey, honor, and delight in their heritage leaving a legacy of the family name and the God they serve!
It has been great to see the Biblical portrait of the family as God's plan to continue His work throughout the earth. "When a man and a woman give themselves to each other in the act of marital love, they can know the love of Christ as no one else can know it" - J. Vernon McGhee.
Join us this Sunday at 10 AM as we continue our Family Matters Series with Pastor Rick's sermon, "The Role of Wives." Proverbs 18:22- "Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing!" AMEN! Thank God, for Godly women who are a portrait of the church (the bride of Christ) to the world.
Lee Iacocca once said, "No matter what you have done for yourself or for humanity if you can't look back on having given love and attention to your own family, what have you really accomplished?"
God's timing has been so good for our families at the Church at Chelsea-Westover as we have been diving into this study and growing. This Sunday we will be looking at the next sermon in the Family Matters series, "The Role of Husband." As a husband, the Christian is to look at the portrait of Jesus, the bridegroom, and is to paint according to that copy to his family.
Every week has 168 hours, yet it seems like everyone, everywhere is running out of time. You might hear these phrases uttered often: "I need more time", "I don't have enough time", "I wish there was more time." The truth is we have the same exact amount of time every day as everyone else. What we do with that time is so vital! We will be looking at this exponentially important topic this week in the Family Matters series - "The Family Schedule." Psalms 90:12 says, "Teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom." There is a Biblical way to spend your T-I-M-E.
T - Treasure
I - Invest

Join us this Sunday as we unpack these spiritual truths!
At CCW we believe in FAMILY! - "FAMILY MATTERS". When God created humanity, He designed us to live in families. The Bible reveals that family relationships are vitally important to God; and is the crown jewel of His creation. The Church, the universal body of believers, is called the family of God. When we obtain the Holy Spirit at salvation, we are adopted into his family. Marriage and Parenthood reveal the character of God through the family.
The big question is: How do I better understand my role and responsibility in God's Kingdom as a member of my family? Join us this Sunday as we kick off our new Sermon series "Family Matters with the sermon entitled "The Family Significance."
Just before he was arrested and crucified, Jesus said, “This is My Commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15:12).
So…. How do we do that? How do we show love like Christ?
This week, as we look forward to the upcoming Family Matters series, we will explore various ways Christ showed love while he was on earth and discuss how we can imitate Him and love people well.
This week we are going to be taking a look into the story of the prodigal son and see what God wants us to learn about ourselves and His heart for us despite our failings and short comings. We know that He is a good Father and this week we are going to see one of the many ways He shows us!
