  • Fight for Recovery

If there is one thing all people need, it’s to recover. Have you ever wished you could just start all over again, get a redo? It's because often we trip, stumble, and fall. In 2 Samuel 12 we see David confronted by Nathan the prophet because of sin and we find out how David got back on the road to being a Man after God's own heart. Proverbs 24:16- The righteous fall 7 times, but they get back up again. David had to take an honest look in the mirror. You can’t “sort of” surrender to recover and you can’t “sort of” surrender your sin to Christ, Jesus wants to help us all the way to a full recovery.

  • Fighting Lust

Far more dangerous than the Goliath that he faced as a teenager, another Giant slithered into David’s own inner chambers, The Giant of Lust. In 2 Samuel 11, David sees Bathsheba and in an instant, blinded by his own selfish desires he falls into a plague of tribulation. In The NT James 1:14-15-Every one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. Then, when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death. We live in a day and time inundated with the Giant of Lust, so it is vital that we learn how to armor up and fight against one of Satan’s most dangerous weapons.

  • Fighting Shame

David becomes King over all of Israel and because of his covenant to Jonathan, he looks for any way to show kindness to the house of Saul. In Lodebar, he finds Jonathan's son Mephibosheth. Mephibosheth was crippled as a young boy, and carried much shame as seen by his words to David, 2 Sam. 9:8, What is your servant, that you should look upon a dead dog as I. Shame is a heavy burden. Shame weighs on us and hinders us from being who God intended us to be. People carry shame for years, living with insecurities, fears, and a sense of self-disdain because of hurtful actions and exchanges from long ago. Shame holds us down with the weights of judgment, condemnation, expectations, disapproval, and more.

Good news, Romans 8:1 says, There is now therefore NO condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus! We have to Fight Shame.

  • Live like you're dying

You may recognize this title because there is an incredibly popular song by the same name. Something about the lyrics of that song struck a chord with millions of Americans. The storyline is about a man who discovers he doesn’t have much time to live. The jarring news causes this man to reprioritize his life. With the clock ticking away on his life, he knows he can’t wait any longer. It is now or never to really live! The song aligns with what God says in James 4:14, "Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.." Life on earth is short, for all of us! What would you change in your life if you lived in the light of this truth? Explore this with us.

  • Fight for Friendship

Out of nowhere, David steps on the scene and slays Goliath, becomes captain of Saul's army, and now King Saul is filled with great jealousy and rage toward David's accomplishments. Have you ever felt like for no reason at all your life just begins to spiral into a struggle and you wished you had a Friend to lean on? In I Samuel 20, we see a friendship example like no other in Jonathan and David. Jonathan is Saul's son, a prince, and heir to the throne and the friendship he finds in David is so valuable that he is willing to sacrifice everything to help his friend. I Samuel 18:1 says "the soul of Jonathan was KNIT to the soul of David" CCW it is vital in this journey that you have people you are KNIT together with to make it through the struggles of life.

  • Fight Comparison

Do you struggle like most people looking around you and seeing what people have or where they are in life and comparing yourself? We compare successes with man made measurements when God looks at our heart. King Saul, that's right the King over all of Israel was set off when he heard this song I. Samuel 18:7- "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands" veiling the very important fact that either way they were winning their battles. We are going to dive into one of the great tools of Satan: the fight of comparison.

  • Why you need courage

It's time to cross over the Jordan and enter the promised land! This is going to take courage. Why did God say to Joshua, "Be strong and of good courage"? Courage is needed when life is full of change. How we respond to such challenges can change you, and those around you. The dividing line between mediocrity and success is courage. God told Joshua, David told Solomon, as he ascended the throne, and God is telling you and me that in the days ahead we need to be courageous. David said it well, "Be strong and of good courage, and do it” (1 Chronicles 28:20). Pastor Rick laid out a clear path of being Mile 2 Christians in 2022, let's take courage and do it!
