The Book of Esther is the only book of the Bible in which God is not mentioned expressly. Jews celebrate the miraculous events in Esther on the holiday of Purim.  It’s a unique holiday as we recount the turning upside down the fate of the Jews with Haman and his supporters hung on the very gallows that Haman built to hang Mordecai. It’s a holiday where human action is central to the story, and a model for us in our lives today.
