Welcome to Day 24 of our Advent journey, Celebration Church family! Today, we reflect on the incredible purposes of Christmas: Jesus’ mission to destroy the works of the devil and provide us with forgiveness and freedom.

In 1 John 3:7–8, we are reminded, “The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.” What are these works? The context of 1 John reveals they are rooted in sin—the very thing that separates us from God. Jesus came to take away our sins and empower us to walk in righteousness. This is the heart of Christmas: God’s triumph over sin and darkness through His Son, Jesus Christ.

But that’s not all. In 1 John 2:1–2, we are comforted by the truth that Jesus is our Advocate. When we fall short, He intercedes for us, offering forgiveness and reconciliation. These two purposes of Christmas—freedom from sin and the gift of forgiveness—do not conflict. Instead, they work together to call us into a life of holiness, empowered by His grace and love.

The message of Christmas invites us to live victoriously. Jesus didn’t just come to save us from sin’s penalty; He came to free us from its power. As we celebrate His birth, we rejoice in the transformation He brings to our lives.

Let this truth guide you today: Are there areas in your life where you need to surrender sin and embrace His forgiveness? Reflect on how Jesus’ victory empowers you to live a life that honors Him.

The Gospel was written so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and through believing, we may have life in His name. But beyond belief, this passage invites us to rekindle awe and wonder at the astonishing reality of who Jesus is.

We often become so familiar with the story of Jesus that we lose the sense of awe He deserves. But His life, death, and resurrection are not just stories—they are the greatest reality in the universe. Today, let's reignite our sense of awe for the Son of God, whose incarnation and mission are more thrilling than anything else we could imagine.

Welcome to Day 21 of our Advent journey, Celebration Church family! Today, we reflect on the profound truth of Jesus' birth as the "Ancient of Days." In John 18:37, Jesus declares, "For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth." Though this verse comes at the end of His earthly life, it points us back to the deep mystery of His birth.

Jesus was not created at His birth in the manger; He is the eternal God who came into our world. The prophecy in Micah 5:2 confirms this truth, revealing that Jesus' coming was planned long before His birth. His incarnation—the act of God entering our world—is a miracle with an eternal purpose: to reveal the truth of God and invite us into His eternal family.

Welcome to Day 20 of our Advent journey! Today, we reflect on the visit of the wise men in Matthew 2:1-12. When the wise men arrived at the house where Jesus was, He was just a young child, unable to perform any miracles or preach any messages. Yet, they were overjoyed to see Him and worshipped Him with extravagant gifts, bowing down to honor Him as the promised King.

In this moment, we learn that worship is not based on what God does for us, but on who He is. Even if God never did another thing for us, He would still be worthy of our worship. Worship is a life lived in surrender to God’s will, giving our hearts fully to Him.
