Making Sense of the World We Live In
Matthew 6:24-34

Don't worry about my life?! How in the world - especially THIS world we are living in right now - be safe for my friends and family or even make sense to anyone? Maybe Jesus knows something here that we don't - and that we need to learn and be ready to share with our world.

For Your Father Knows
Matthew 6:5-15

We all learn and use a prayer form that is often called "The Lord's Prayer." The words and form have been given by Jesus to his people across time and cultures. What we cannot forget though is this: Jesus gives this form to people He has first invited into relationship with His Father through his grace: "Because you are His deeply-loved, fully-adopted children, you can pray in ways like this!"

"Life with a Different King"
Matthew 5:1-12

Jesus makes clear to both his apprentices and the crowd, that living in this world as ambassadors of his "Kingdom Authority" will be both "Blessed" and at times trying. We discover that it is in the trying times that we find the Blessing in new, surprising, and deep ways.

Fluent in the Kingdom

Matthew 4:12-17, 23-25

Jesus begins his public ministry with a challenge and a declaration: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near” (Matthew 4:17). He does more than just talk about this Kingdom, though; he lives it out - bringing healing, wholeness, restoration, and forgiveness wherever he goes. As a follower of Jesus, I find it easy to talk ABOUT the way things should be - but not always as easy to see the kingdom of heaven coming near in my own life. As the Harderwyk community begins studying the Sermon on the Mount, my hope is that we orient ourselves together to be people who don’t just talk about the Kingdom but who live in it in our daily lives.
