Celluloid Barbara

After two podcasts were lost to the icy tundra of technical difficulties, we make a valiant return with Lynne Ramsay's 'We Need To Talk About Kevin'. In it, a little sociopathic scrote makes his Mum's life misery.

Terrible technical problems arose this week, as we were condemned to the frustrating perils of zoom. We flopped around Paris, lathering Jérémy Clapin's film 'I lost My Body' all over our... well... bodies. It's a wonderful moving animation with a terrific score, all about a little lost hand, and unrequited love. Check it out on Netflix before you listen, because, there's spoilers a plenty!

In our first ever Christmas Special we tackled the monolith that is Peter Jackson's 'The Lord of the Rings' Trilogy. Less a series of films, more a part of our collective childhood cultural consciousness. We adore these films, and hope you get a kick out of our Christmas giddiness in discussing them.

A truly anarchic episode of fun and wonderment enjoyed by all (except the listeners). This week we dove headfirst into Tomas Alfredson's icy vampiric coming of age tale. We do hope you enjoy.

For our second episode, it's the astonishing John Cassavetes epic 'A Woman Under The Influence'. This piece of realist wonderment actually made one critic throw up in shock!

The story follows a woman (Gena Rowlands) whose unusual behaviour leads to conflict with her blue-collar husband (Peter Falk) and family...

After a nervy start, our brave boys find their feet and begin their filmic rambling. It's Jack's pick to start us off, and he chooses Annie Hall (1977), a greedy little film that won an astounding 4 Oscars!

The film stars Allen as Alvy Singer, who tries to figure out the reasons for the failure of his relationship with the eponymous female lead, played by Diane Keaton in a role written specifically for her.
