Celtic and floodlights
A power failure in Glasgow’s east end last month threatened to turn out the lights and end Celtic’s game with Dundee.
This would have been the latest chapter in Celtic’s floodlight history, a tale that goes back to the 1890s, and even includes joint teams with Rangers.
There’s a Celtic history tale out every week, free to everyone, whether a CU Subscriber or not and to find out more about the free Celtic walking tours visit Celticwalkingtours.wordpress.com for more information.
The full details of this is told in the latest podcast from @hailhailhistory.

There are piviotal occassions in your Celtic supporting life when you realise everything has changed. For me, one of those was the night we went out on pens to Valencia. I went to work the next day and proudly claimed - we’ll reach a European final.
Tonight is one of those moments. We have an elite manager who has, through tactics and motivation, convinved our players they belong at this level. There is now no turning back. No more signing players for games against Dundee Utd & Motherwell. We are on the cusp of becoming a standard last 16 UCL team. It’s time for the Michael, Chris and Dermot to give the manager what he needs, both personally and with the squad to take that final step.
With all that in mind, Andrew H and Harry B discuss their pride, the fine margins on show tonight and agree on how proud we are of Brendan and the bhoys.

Another transfer window closes and another load of whailing and gnashing of teeth from the Celtic fans (online at least) from many disgruntled hoops who wanted more. On this site we have had Andrew H’s positive review and a critical take (as you’d expect) from Critical Bill.
Earlier in the season we had Ross Hall of The Football Talent Report provide us with his review of the summer window and so he is now back to review the January window. Harry B asks him was it good bad or indifferent. as you’d expect it’s a bit of all.
The review of the window leads to a wider discussion of the youths and the challenges of getting them into the first team discussing the facilities, the coaches and of course us, the fans and how we all have an impact.

Celtic’s worst ever result
Raith Rovers come to Celtic Park this Saturday for a Scottish Cup tie.
Any mention of cups and the Fife team will always bring back memories of the 1994 League Cup Final.
Losing a final to lower league team is never a good result – but what is Celtic’s worst ever scoreline?
This latest podcast from @hailhailhistory examines ten of Celtic’s poorest games.

As most will know, our ‘In Conversation with…’ series is usually exlcusive to paid subscribers but we decided to make this one free. It’s a wee bit different to most in conversations with Jenna talking openly and emotionally about both her mum and her dad.
It’s quite an emotional discussion and one that will be appreciated by anyone who has lost their parents.

With the postponement of the Dundee game on Saturday (result - I was away in London and would have missed it) then there’s only one show in town for this week’s podcast and it’s Europe.
The last match podcast was a preview of the Young Boys game and so in this podcast we review (in our usual complete ramble that doesn’t really review) the YB game and preview the Villa match. In between we discuss VAR, Kyogo, Maeda and Jota.
For nearly 20 years we’ve been rambling away like this, but you keep coming back for more so please enjoy…

There was tear in the eye for many a Celt today with the departure of Kyogo, a player who clearly appeared to loved playing football, performing with what seemed like a permanent grin. But his departure has been tempered with the return of Jota.
The deal was officially confirmed by Celtic today with the press conference late afternoon.

(Oh and there’ll be a Eurovision podcast out very very soon).
Most Celtic fans prefer to toast Tommy rather than Rabbie on Burns Night.
However, in the past, some Celts were involved in a famous tribute to the Ayrshire poet, who is remembered each year on 25 January.
This the latest tale from Hail Hail History History.
