Sunday, June 23, 2024 – We are beginning a new study on the 2nd letter of Peter, addressing the believers scattered around Asia Minor and to us today. The message's title is "Growing in Grace and Peace." The focus on the first two verses of this first chapter is on the importance of developing a solid foundation on the "Rock" of our salvation to withstand the storms of life. Peter understands that as the end times draw near and false teaching increases, life will get more difficult and confusing. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, he instructs his readers on the necessity of growing in our knowledge of God so that God’s Grace and Peace may grow within us. It’s only as our knowledge of God is converted into a “relationship” with God that God’s Grace can grow into Peace that guards and protects. Join us for worship and study.

It’s important for fathers to consider the impact they have on future generations. Society often focuses on a legacy from a temporary perspective, but from a spiritual standpoint, it's important to consider the eternal impact. As a result, the challenge for fathers is to live in a way that leads their children and grandchildren toward a better and eternal future rather than dwelling on the past. The future holds potential for greatness, not only in this lifetime but also for eternity. This is the main point of today's message. So, fathers, let’s shift our focus from a temporary legacy to an eternal one. Join us in worship and study."

Throughout this 18-sermon series, we have explored the major theme of JOY and discovered that JOY is a result of a committed and faithful relationship with Jesus. No other relationship can offer joy like this. Today we are being encouraged to be content in all areas of life, regardless of the circumstances, and challenged to be committed in our giving of finances, time, and energy to God. Paul emphasizes that it’s not about how much one gives, but how it’s the spirit of how it’s given that ensures their accounts are credited as a result of their faithful giving. There is much to consider here, so I encourage you to worship and study along to hear the word of the Lord in all these areas.

Paul sets an example of finding peace and joy in the midst of trouble. In this chapter, he addresses the members of the church as “brothers and sisters,” emphasizing the idea of a loving family unit in God's eyes. Paul also acknowledges that disagreements will arise even in a functional family, and it's important to address them constructively to prevent them from causing division. There is much for us to learn from this. Additionally, he emphasizes the significance of rejoicing in all situations. Rejoicing is a choice, and with a strong foundation in Christ, joy is a result of that rejoicing. Join us for worship and study to deepen your understanding.
