Hope in the promised Son. The Christmas season is a season of hope, hope in Christ. In a world of hopelessness, pain, and despair, Jesus’ light of love and salvation shines brightly. This message explores the genealogy of Jesus from Matthew 1 and finds hope for all there in God’s Word.

Christ uses ordinary means to build His church. Christ has given believers all the tools they need to serve Him in faith. The gospel goes forth in power and Christ’s church is built up through the faithful service of His people. This message looks at the examples of Paul and Barnabas for church ministry.

The Gospel will move even when it is opposed. As God’s people share the gospel, they will face opposition from the lost. But no matter how hard the world opposes the message of Jesus the gospel will still move forward and save souls. God gives Jesus Christ as God's light in the darkest times in the world. The world is a spiritually dark place. It is hopeless and only offers solutions to despair that leads to judgment. Advance the Gospel as Christ leads. Christ is advancing His good news throughout our world today. He has uniquely gifted and placed each of His people to reach the lost and He empowers the message they are sent to proclaim. This sermon looks at the first missionaries sent out by the early church and Christ’s guiding hand in the work – a work that continues today.

God is greater than any opposition. In this world, God’s people will face persecution. While God allows these hardships to come against His people, He will always protect His own and prevail over all opposition. Acts 12 is a strengthening narrative for the believer suffering for Christ’s name.

We need each other for the gospel. As believers cultivate their unity in Christ, work together, and care for one another the church is built and the gospel expands. The work of the gospel becomes more effective as believers unite together and churches partner with one another. This message looks at the unity and partnership of the early church.
