Hebrews 10:11-18

God the Father sent the Holy Spirit as a gift to the church 50 days after Jesus’ resurrection.This is known as “the day of Pentecost”. The Spirit of God bears witness to the saving and sanctifyingwork of Jesus, and He continues the ongoing work of sanctification in our lives.

This Pentecost Sunday we want to take the time to celebrate the work of the Holy Spirit in our church and our lives!  By the work of the Holy Spirit we come to understand what Jesus has done for us and how we can live it out.  We need His help and strength to transform our hearts to follow Christ.

At Christmas we celebrate the birth of Christ; at Easter we celebrate the resurrection of Christ; at Pentecost we celebrate the sending of the Holy Spirit to dwell within Christians. This Pentecost Sunday we celebrate the work of the Holy Spirit who testifies to the finished work of Christ.
