In part 7 of "Encouragement for confusing times" Pastor Dr. Scott Davis discusses 1 Thessalonians 5. As children of God we are children of Light. We don't have to be in darkness with no hope. Light dispels the darkness. 1 Thessalonians 5 instructs us to be alert, protected by the "armor" of faith and love, wearing our "helmet" - the confidence of our salvation.

The messages of 1st, and 2nd Thessalonians are refreshing. They inform believers that the completed work of Jesus will deliver them from the coming Day of the Lord. It gives them encouragement to endure and hope to look ahead. It teaches them how to be loving in this present time, directs them to live holy and productive lives, and causes them look toward the coming of Jesus.
