Before joining OED in 2001, Dr. Smith previously developed and directed the Center For Web-Based Learning at Southern Arkansas University Tech. She was the first Certified WebCT Trainer in the State of Arkansas. In addition to training in WebCT, she has done consulting on a statewide basis for design and implementation of Web-Based Learning Programs. Dr. Smith also has experience as a Department Chair for Arts and Sciences. She has taught online courses since 1998 and developed one of the first online laboratory courses. She has taught Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Medical Terminology. She earned her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in Entomology, MS and BSE in Biology from Arkansas State University.

Very few groups drew the fire from the heresy hunters like the Gnostics. By far the greatest challengers to the proto-orthodoxy, we have more volumes’ of works written against them then we have volumes written either by them or for them. Some historians believe that the proto-orthodoxy writers forced the writings and practices of the Gnostics into historical oblivion, but there is not really much evidence that supports the idea.
