Over 70 percent of employees are disengaged at work. The cost of disengagement is staggering and many of the traditional approaches have been unsuccessful in producing a truly engaged workforce.

Join me as I interview Bob Dunham, CEO of The Institute of Generative Leadership. He will discuss a very different way of looking at disengagement and an entirely new approach for addressing it.

Herb Johnson is President and founder of HVJ Associates, Inc. He has responsibility for corporate vision, strategy, development of company culture, executive team leadership, and capital allocation. He is an accomplished executive and business leader, and leads a team of executives managing over 80 engineers, scientists and support staff delivering quality engineering services throughout Texas, serving state governmental and local agencies, and the private sector.

Mr. Johnson's success has been achieved using a balance of entrepreneurial, managerial and operational expertise. He is a leader adopting innovative business approaches including the institutional of an advisory board, applying generative leadership principles and practices and instituting executive coaching for key personnel. He is a disciplined and inspiring leader, developing and empowering others to achieve their potential.

Mr. Johson earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering at Mississippi State University in 1978. He earned a master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, also at MSU in 1981. Additional qualifications include management studies at Dartmouth College and the University of Texas. Further advanced management and leadership studies were done at the Generative Leadership Institute in Boulder, Colorado.

Before founding his own investment group, Richard Jaffe was chairman and CEO of Safe Life Corp., a San Diego-based medical-technology company focused on antimicrobial technologies that prevent the spread of infections and disease. In 2004, he co-founded Huya Bioscience International, a drug development company that identifies and licenses the most promising pre-clinical and clinical-stage compounds in China, leverages and extends the research efforts of its Chinese partners, and provides a bridge into the international-development process and global, bio-pharma market. He previously served as chairman, president and CEO of latex-glove manufacturer Safe Skin Corp., which he co-founded in 1988, took public in 1993 and led until February 2000, when a merger was completed with Kimberly-Clark Corp. Early in his career he founded Nutrifoods International Inc., a frozen-dessert manufacturer that he took public in 1984 and sold to the Coca-Cola Company. He earned his B.S. in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University. An active volunteer, he is a long-time member and officer with the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and, together with his wife, helped build a new campus for the San Diego Jewish Academy. Jaffe was the Marketing Chairman for the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines and is a member of USGA Presidents Council. In addition, he authored his first book of poetry, “Inner Peace and Happiness: Reflections to Grow Your Soul,” in 2007.

Mike graduated from John Carroll University and received an MBA degree from California State University, Fresno. After graduate school, Mike worked for an affiliate of Ford Motor Genuine Parts Distribution as sales manager and marketing analyst. From 1980 to 1983, Mike worked at Sperry Univacs Minicomputer Headquarters in Irvine, California, as a marketing analyst and then as a marketing manager for distributed data processing.

In 1983, Mike began Road Runner Sports in a garage in Del Mar, California, using his direct marketing experience. The company doubled in size nearly every year through 1999. Road Runner Sports sells morel running shoes than any other retailer or cataloger in the U.S. and is the largest running shoe customer for each of its manufacturers. Mike is a member of The Executive Committee and is on the Board of the Athletes Helping Athletes Foundation.

Mike has coached his three sons and one daughter for over 15 years in baseball and soccer. He has run in the New York Marathon and regularly runs 20 miles per week. He also has a weekly routine of serious stretching and weight training. Mike frequently enjoys a good round of golf, and likes a few hours each week on the tennis court, surfing, and stand up paddle boarding.

She also has received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition in recognition of outstanding and invaluable service to the community and was recognized and highlighted by MSN.com as one of the nation's leading Women Working for Change.

Sona is a member of Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation, Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and the National Health Marketing Leadership Roundtable.

An early adopter of Internet technologies, Sona has been actively involved in the development of several widely used software applications. Prior to CaringBridge she ran her own consulting company specializing in start-up/entrepreneurial projects.

In 1985 Linda co-founded and served as President of VCI Communications where she was responsible for all of their operations. She later founded Cellular Solutions LTD, Her clients included Cellular One, GTE, Motorola, McCaw Cellular, Bell South Mobility and many other global GSM operators in Europe, Asia and South America.

Linda continued on to co-found Nika Water, a social enterprise that donates 100% of its profits to clean water and alleviation projects around the world. Since its founding in 2009, Nika has brought clean water to more than 28,000 people through initiatives in the Unites States, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and Nicaragua. Linda and her husband Jeff Church co-wrote and published the book, "A Thirst for Change", which narrates their approach of how social entrepreneurship is key to taking responsibility in healing the world - Tikkum Olam.

While having a strong background in business, Linda is extremely involved with giving back to her community and to the world at large. She has spent the last 18 years assisting numerous nonprofits by raising over 10 million dollars to build schools, daycare centers health clinics and educational programs to help alleviate poverty and elevate humanity.

While Linda appreciates being a successful business women, she considers her greatest achievement to be raising four kind and loving children, ages 15,16,19,20. Each cares deeply about their school, their friends, the community and the world.
