Money money money. Let’s talk about money. For some reason it’s a hard and uncomfortable topic. For a lot of people, its a source of stress and fear. It can be limiting. But what if we look at it as a tool we can use to solve problems and live abundantly. A lot of people think women especially moms can’t make money with a side hustle or a small business. I'm here to say the exact opposite because I not only made the exact amount the studio cost me JUST in studio sessions in 2020 and brought in added revenue to support my family. The first key to making money in your business is to shift your mindset from scarcity to abundance. Instead of thinking you’ll never have enough (clients, money, time) or be enough, we have to believe whatever we dream of we can achieve. Truly believing you have more than you need to reach your goals. Today we're talking how to shift our mindsets to view money as a positive rather than a negative.
Now that we have set our intentions for the year, let's talk about habits. First of all, we are only going to start with ONE habit at a time!! Let’s choose a habit that matches your intention for the year so we can start with a strong desire for change. -If your intention is to be grateful, the habit could be write in your gratitude journal daily. -If your intention is to be more present, the habit could be to turn your phone off at 6 pm every night. -If your intention is to be healthier, the habit could be to drink more water or eliminate a food from your diet. -If your intention is to be inspired, listen to a new podcast in a new genre everyday. You get the point. Instead of focusing on the result like “lose ten pounds” or “make lots of money” with intentions and habits, we are focusing on the process. I know you have heard takes 21 days to form a habit, but the average human needs 65 days and it can vary from 12-200+ for habits to actually stick depending on the person and the habit. Listen for my eight steps to setting new habits for the new year!
New year, new me right? Learn Spanish. Cook dinner every night. Lose 10 pounds. Get ready everyday. Travel around the world. Did you know 4/5 people break their new years resolutions? And a third of resolutions don’t even make it past the first month? I have been setting resolutions since I was a teenager. Last year I DITCHED resolutions. Because resolutions focus on the outcome, not the journey. In the past I’ve started the year with a list of habits to break and make all at once in every category of my life. Adding them all at once is near impossible and very overwhelming. Don’t get me wrong I am a HUGE believer in goal setting. I set new revenue goals every quarter. And I am working on all sorts of new habits, and adding to them each month. I look at my vision board filled with my goals multiple times a day. With resolutions our list for change is too long. And we are creating them at the beginning of the year because it’s what you do…not because we have a strong desire for change. Last year my intention was to HEAL which seems ironic now with 2020 being the dumpster fire year that it was. I set the intention to heal and then I worked towards it everyday. With my journal. Through therapy. Through coaching. Through hard conversations. It was hard work. But. We did it. My heart feels so much better going into a new year after feeling whole again. Instead of checklists and to do lists, doing doing doing, I’m going to work on being. 🤍🤍🤍
It's the most wonderful time of the year but it's also the most stressful time of the year, especially for moms. We have a lot on our plates and carry a lot of the load around holidays. Moms are kind of like the glue that holds everything together. If you think about it, we do a lot of the shopping, planning, prepping, decorations, traditions, activities, wrapping, hosting, baking and neighbor gifts. And that doesn’t even include all the things we need to do for our business. With your business you might be pushing new products right now, or new services and sales for the Christmas shopping season. There is so much on our minds! The holiday break is right around the corner for many of our kids and that is a time that should be spent with them, not with emails, websites and new products. I have learned that being proactive and planning ahead in my business takes a load off my shoulders to make me available for my kids during the Christmas break. So in our LAST EPISODE OF THE YEAR, we’re talking about how to plan ahead for the holidays so that we can be as present as ever with our family. See you in January! Last week I was asked how us moms can have me-time without feeling guilty or without our husbands feeling resentment. I think this is a common thing a lot of moms struggle with, even though self-care is essential, we still feel like we’re being selfish and taking away from our kids and our husbands. So in this week’s podcast, I turned to my twin sister Lauren Pace...a busy mom of two (soon to be three), homesteader, business owner and child behavior coach who I think has figured out guilt-free self-care. The most important thing you can do for your kids is take care of yourself! If you’re not taking care of yourself then your missed needs will come out on your children. Recognize that self care is just as much for your children as it is for you. So if you've been feeling the mom-guilt lately, take 20 minutes out of your day and join us as we navigate guilt-free self-care. Its Thanksgiving week and there's a lot of gratitude talk in the air, which is why I'm talking about one of my favorite topics. Having a positive and grateful attitude has SO MANY benefits, you're kinder, more resilient, more relaxed, more social, more optimistic and have better relationships. We really should get into the habit of being grateful year-round. For years I have kept a gratitude journal and it has changed everything, including getting me through my hardest times. I challenge you to do the same, so that when the turkey and mashed potatoes are finished, we can be grateful year-round.
Think of an Instagram account you’ve been following for at least six months...Now why do you think it deserves your follow? Why haven’t you hit the “unfollow” button? Probably because you feel connected in some way. I do not get why the paragraph of hashtags at the end of each post, all the ads and the follow-unfollow game is so popular right now! Why do we think that will grow our Instagram? It is SO impersonal and looks SO BAD. I see a lot of Instagram accounts that are only reaching surface level because they are lacking value. They are not posting valuable content, they are not giving me a valuable connection and I do not feel valued as a follower. You might find yourself guilty of making these Instagram mistakes, but that’s okay and I promise there’s a better way to gain followers! I sat down, thought of how I have grown my own Instagram and condensed it all down into 10 points with no ads, no hashtags, no bots, because it’s all in the value that we can give to others.
Pretty much everyone has gone through a hard time in 2020, you might even still be in the middle of your pandemic-inflicted trials. I don’t need to explain how tough this year has been but I want you to know that whatever your hard is, it matters! But life goes on and we have to keep moving even when we don’t want to. It sucks. Today I’m sharing all the things I used to keep going through hard times: 1. Focus on things within your control 2. Let yourself feel all the feels 3. Don't get sucked into negativity and bitterness 4. Gratitude Journal 5. Tighten your inner circle 6. Move everyday
