  • My #1 Secret to Real Business Success

My #1 Secret to Real Business Success In my decade as an entrepreneur I have seen businesses start and stop, launch and fail over and over. Its one of those things every entrepreneur likes to say “1 in 5 businesses fail in the first 5 years, and then 90% after that and then 90% after that, and then 90% after that.” And I’m not mocking those statistics. I can see why. They aren’t failing because they’re bad at what they do. They’re failing because they stop showing up. I’m not the best at what I do and don’t have to be the best. I’m not the best photographer. I’m not the best mentor. I’m not the best business owner. I’m not the best podcaster. But I show up everyday. And thats all it takes. Because 90% of your competition won’t. I have seen this in my own businesses with Maskcara. In my first year in my make up business I got the award for top 20 enrollees in the company without knowing much at all about make up. Then photography picked up and I stopped posting about business. It wasn’t a priority. And while it didn’t totally kill the business and I still get orders from my clients monthly, I am not growing. I went from thousands of dollars a month to hundreds. Did the make up change? Did my skills change? No. I stopped showing up. You want your business to grow? Do the work. Daily. Be consistent. Show up. Be faithful in the small things until the big things come

  • How to Propel your Business Forward

When I started my business, I did everything myself. I was the one-woman amateur show. I just did what everyone else was doing. I didn’t know why they were doing what they were doing. I didn’t know if it even worked. But I did it anyway. A few things I didn’t realize… - If I was doing what everyone else was doing, I was never going to stand out. - Investing in education was expensive but cut down my learning curve by years which makes me more profitable - The more I invest in learning new things, the faster I would grow. I am a part of a bundle right now that is YOUR chance to propel your business forward by years, too. 72 courses for $100, with a savings of $18,000. SIGN UP FOR THE BUNDLE: Bit.ly/KA-BUNDLE

  • Give your All to your Kids, and your All to your Business

Let’s talk about mom guilt. Bleh. It’s the worst. I used to feel guilty when I worked too much then I felt guilty when I wasn’t working because I should have been more productive with that time.I used to feel guilty when my house was a mess then I would feel guilty when I would clean my house instead of playing with my kids. And then of course the guilt that came when the house was clean and I would get after the kids for every little mess.Sometimes I’m too harsh. Sometimes I way to lax. Guilt. Guilt. Guilt. Nothing has changed. I still have days where I work too much and days where I don’t work enough. I still over-clean, under-clean, over-discipline, under-discipline. The only thing that has changed it LETTING GO OF GUILT. I had a realization that I’m a working mom because I choose to be a working mom. And I choose to work because I love to work. And also, whether I work or not, this mom gig is hard. And I’m not perfect. And I can’t do all the things everyday. I chose to let go of mom guilt, shame and society’s expectations (past and current) of what a mom should or shouldn’t be. And I choose to live my best life. For me, and for my family. I chose this, and I love it. My family is one of the biggest reasons I push myself through the hard times to keep building this empire. We learn, grow and experience this world together. Whether you’re a WAHM, SAHM, WM or whatever other combination of MOM, you’re doing what you were born to do. And your acronym may change from time to time, but the point is…let go of the guilt..and live. Your kids are watching. You are their hero no matter what you choose. Learn how I learned to give my all to my work, and my all to my kids.

  • Getting Back to Business After a Pandemic

Welcome to our new podcast filled with short bite sized episodes with takeaways that empower you in your role as a business owner and mother. I spent weeks reading every news article, googling COVID statistics daily and waiting for my business to crash and burn during economic shut downs. I was paralyzed. Instead of moving forward, I stopped. And that was okay for a minute while I processed all the emotions. But then I realized that the shut downs weren’t the what was shutting down my business, I was. I know I wasn’t the only person that felt paralyzed during this time, but instead of letting the emotions overcome me and destroy what I had built. I needed to pick my feet up again and move. People still need what I offer. Maybe more than over. And people still need what you offer, too. I started doing a few things daily to get my head back in the game. 1. Stop watching Netflix and started listening to podcasts and classes. 2. Made my bed. 3. Real bra or real jeans second week. 4. I began my daily gratitude practice again and morning routine 5. Think, What do people need from you? And change everything. In the week after I did these five things, my business was back in full swing. I had two associates join my team. I started booking weddings, families, and brands again worth over $10,000 in revenue across all members of our team, including the ones that don’t even have their portfolios on their website. I created a new class for my team. I shot 10 sessions in a week. And I outlined out 12 weeks of podcasts, blog post, instagram content, emails. And launched a podcast. It all starts in our mind. Choosing to change the story we tell ourselves. Choosing to mute news sources and conspiracy theory friends. I’m not paralyzed because I told myself I wasn’t. I am ready to get back to business, and I think you are too. All it took is one week of taking ridiculous baby steps like putting on a bra and changing my habits, I’m back. Don’t wait people to come to you. Adapt, pivot, be creative! I’m what worked before won’t work now.
