The greatest love of all, the most important thing in our lives, should be to love God. Loving God means obeying his command to love others too. And loving God means loving Jesus because Jesus is God. This is challenging, since we naturally (sinfully) cherish (idolise) so many other things than God. But thankfully there is forgiveness for our waywardness, through faith in Jesus, the Saviour. (Sermon)

Jesus was being grilled, not by leaders who wanted to be taught, but to trap him. Yet, Jesus responds graciously, and teaches us about serving God and government appropriately. Do we give God the love, honour, and glory that he is due? If not, we can find hope in the gospel.

Jesus calls us to trust in him, to say 'yes' to the invitation to the wonderful heavenly celebration to come. But if we choose to say no, the end will be very different. Choose 'yes', and follow Jesus, for eternal blessing. Jesus also effectively warned the Jewish leaders in this parable that they ought not to reject him. And he tells us that it is not enough to want to go to heaven - we need to go there dressed in the robe of righteousness that he alone provides. (Sermon)

Jesus was questioned by religious leaders, who didn't accept the message to turn to God, nor did they accept Jesus' authority from God. The gospel would soon be taken from them and given directly to other nations, since they had failed to be the light to the Gentiles that they ought to have been. (Sermon)
