The #Beijing municipal government has upgraded its #rainstorm warning to yellow, the third highest level, and activated citywide flood-control emergency response measures on Sunday morning. Starting from the afternoon of July 27, most areas of Beijing, the capital of China, are expected to experience hourly rainfall exceeding 30 millimeters, according to the China Meteorological Administration.

Districts including Yanqing, Huairou, Miyun, Pinggu, Shunyi, Changping, Mentougou, Fangshan, Haidian and Shijingshan may see hourly rainfall surpassing 50 mm in some areas, with total accumulation exceeding 70 mm over six hours – and possibly more than 100 mm in isolated locations.

Fresh clashes rocked the Thailand-Cambodia border early on Saturday. Gunfire could be heard as villagers fled explosions and hid in bunkers at a border checkpoint in Surin Province, Thailand. One villager told CGTN they had taken shelter in a bunker, crowded with more than 30 people, for four days and three nights. The border has been effectively sealed off, cutting off vital supplies for thousands. Aid groups warn that the prolonged clashes are making it increasingly difficult to deliver food and medical assistance to those in need.
