The Diet Diaries

Change takes way longer than we want it to. Here's why.

Listen Later

Let’s talk about time.

How much time we need to make lasting changes.

How long the coaching process takes

How much time you’ve spent living in the chronic diet cycle and why accepting that is a key part of setting expectations.

How long it takes to learn, practice and get proficient at the skills you need to find ease around food and in your body.

How much time it takes for your body to respond to your actions.

How long it takes to lose weight.

How long it takes to rebuild trust with yourself (a lack of self trust is a big reason you’re always on a diet).

Results in 30 days has become normalized-because its sexy and dramatic and fast. But the reality is that is completely unrealistic if you want results that last. So we need a reset on this.

Dieting has always been about urgency and instant gratification. And thats a BIG reason why diets don’t work.  The more urgency you put behind something, the less permanent those changes will be.

Today’s episode is a reset on how to think about progress, time and the results you really want.
