The Book of Numbers reveals how the Israelites failed to keep God at the center, choosing fear over faith and facing the consequences. Yet God remains faithful, pointing to Jesus and reminding us that true purpose comes from putting Him first.

How did the Old Testament people know that God accepted their sacrifices and they were truly forgiven? How can we truly know that God accepted Jesus's sacrifice on our behalf as well? Can we know for sure?

Like forgotten passwords, sin kept people locked out of God’s presence, and sacrifices could only cover the problem. Jesus became the true “password,” opening direct access to God through His sacrifice.

Have you ever designed a perfect plan for somebody only to have them make a total mess of it? God’s plan for his Old Testament people was amazing! How did His people respond?

Pastor Ryan reflects on the Israelites’ journey out of Egypt and how it reminded them of God’s past deliverance, gave them reasons to praise Him, and pointed to promises still to come. In the same way, it shows us what we need for our daily journey—reminders of God’s faithfulness, a heart ready to worship, and confidence in the future He has promised through Christ.

Pastor Chris Ryan points to the life of Joseph as a powerful reminder that we are Christ’s ambassadors wherever God places us. Even when circumstances are difficult or we fall short, God is with us, offering forgiveness through Jesus and using us to reflect His grace to others.

The Oreo illustration highlights how easy it is to trade something immensely valuable for a short-term craving—just like Jacob misjudged what reconciliation would cost and like we misjudge God’s grace. Pastor Ryan uses the books of Genesis and Gospel of Luke, to show the message is clear: we assume we must pay our way back, but instead we find a God who has already covered the cost and runs toward us in mercy.
