We're back with the first episode that we recorded in 2016 on the first day of year. We were tired as hell, coming off of the NYE party the night before, and we got into many things, including hallucinations at work caused by sleep deprivation caused by said NYE party, what music from 2015 we think we'll be listing to in the future, and what music we're looking forward to in 2016.

We also reflect on the growth and development of the podcast from when we first started until now and what the future may hold, and we also get into a discussion about Future's lock on 2015 and break down some of his lyrics from "56 Nights" with assistance from Rap Genius. We sit down in person for the first time for an episode for our first episode of 2016. It's only fitting that also in the building, we have our family Born King aka Killa Fifth. Born King has a long history in the Baltimore Hip-Hop scene, and he gives us his insight into what it was like coming up in Hip-Hop in the late 80s and early 90s. Joker The Bailbondsman is a pioneer in Alaskan Hip-Hop. The Anchorage, AK native put his state on his back and has dropped many albums which are now considered coveted rarities and collectible items (on this episode he learns how much some of his projects are going for on eBay!). Through his work ethic, Joker made a name for himself nationally using every pre-internet resource available, which was difficult to do coming from a place that is rarely considered when it comes to having a vibrant Hip-Hop scene.

Joker is best known for his videos which were featured on BET Uncut, his features with top rappers such as Bizzy Bone and Freeway, and his news-making street exploits which landed him in prison with a lengthy sentence.

In this episode, Joker The Bailbondsman details his upbringing and how he got into music, life in Anchorage and Alaska as a whole, where his name came from, how he made everything happen, and how he used his time being incarcerated to better himself and come back stronger than ever. Cole James Cash is a character. He's the Hip-Hop anti-hero; far from squeaky clean and you never quite know what he's going to do next, but when he shows up with his unconventional flair, you're glad he's there. G'sta is a rapper/producer from New Orleans, LA. He's gained respect through the quality projects that he's released since the 90's, starting with "Misery" and "World of Syn" which developed a cult following internationally, then with "We Workin'", the full length album with Layzie Bone of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, then with a host of projects throughout the 2000's including his "Classic Status" mixtape series, and now with his "Don't Shoot The Messenger" project, which is produced entirely by DJ Blaknificent.

DJ Blaknificent is a DJ/producer from New Orleans, LA. He helped lay the foundation for what would become the New Orleans Hip-Hop scene, as well as the New Orleans Bounce music scene. From coming up as part of the legendary New Orleans group Psycho Ward, to producing and working with such notable artists as Mia X and Kane & Abel, to now producing with G'sta and providing the sonic landscape for the "Don't Shoot The Messenger" project, 'Nif continues to put in work, providing a classical Hip-Hop sound that is a refreshing departure from the current musical trends.

On this episode, we start talking with DJ Blaknificent as he gives us some New Orleans music history. Once G'Sta gets on the line, we get into their musical history, their lives in general, and of course "Don't Shoot The Messenger," which you need to listen to right now because it is dope! We really had fun kicking it with these guys, and this episode is definitely a must listen.
